Harper made me cry again – but I loved it! Bleeding Love is the same great mix of heat, emotion and fun that I have come to expect from this author and as usual I couldn’t put it down.
Megan locked away her heart after her husband Jack died several years ago while serving overseas, only allowing her daughter Molly to benefit from her love. Cohen pulled her into the circle of his family and friends after Jack’s death and although she has resisted, they have slowly worked their way into her life and the outer edges of her heart. She has been clawing her way out of the darkness of depression incrementally on her own with the help of writing but she still exists in a closed off mode trying to protect her heart from being crushed ever again. Then Liam Beckett’s persistence breaks through her resistance one night after months of trying, and the force of the emotions she feels with him surpasses anything she has felt before in her life which is enough to send her running scared again immediately afterward.
I adored Lee! Like all the men in his life, he recognizes what he wants and sees with clarity how wonderful their life could be. He pursues it with single minded determination but it is always mindful of Megan’s state of mind, pushing her a bit when necessary and pulling back at the rights times to give her a chance to process the now foreign emotions that are swirling within her. He is an alpha through and through so it costs him to hold back when he wants nothing more than to wrap Megan and Molly in a protective cocoon and to give them the world, but he also knows he will do more damage than good if he does.
Lee has his work cut out for him and he enlists Dani’s help to develop a Feeling Alive activity list to do with Megan as a roadmap to helping her feel again and to realize there is so much more to life than what she has been allowing herself and Molly. Once she finally understands what he has been waiting for her to see and let’s her steel reinforced walls crumble, it’s the beginning of a beautiful life. Lee is not lacking in the smoldering sex appeal department, and he definitely lives up to the high standards of Harper’s other alphas in and out of the bedroom.
I have to say his scenes with Molly had a serious “awww” factor that just had me a mushy pile of Liam fangirl goo! Molly is adorable, reaching in and grabbing the heart of every one she comes in contact with and it doesn’t take long before she has them wrapped around her little finger. Lee and even Axel and Nate succumb to her charms, allowing her to give them “makeupvers” dressing the alpha- male – deluxe models like princesses with makeup and lipstick at tea parties, and that vision was absolutely priceless!
Liam and Megan’s story parallels Dee and Beck’s in many ways and that is both good and bad to me. Their book was probably my least favorite out of the Corps Security series, but really it’s all relative because the series overall is still one of my all time favorites. Seeing Lee go to his parents for advice and reliving some of the memories with them was bittersweet, and Lee and Megan’s story is their own with its own unique elements. I have to say, Nate intrigued me in this story as we get a deeper glimpse into his personality and I can’t wait until he has his turn in the spotlight.
I love Liam! I have given him my heart since he was introduced at Unexpected Fate and my respect and love for him just grew more in Bleeding Love. He was not dark alpha which is surrounded by too much demons but he was the light. He was the lead in this book and he acted like it. His determination to get Megan was enjoyable to watch especially when he wanted her to experience the life that she stopped living for a while.
I am a sucker for books with adorable children. Molly definitely played a major role on why I love this book specifically by the end where she was all lovely with Liam and wanted her mom to be happy forever.
What I also loved the most with Harper Sloans technique in writing is she never leave out her other characters. Here, I saw Axel Reid doing tea parties with her son Nate and it was the cutest thing ever! Who knew that Axel will put a make- up on his face and dance around the house?
Loved this book and though it was the easiest read of all in my opinion, Harper still found a cord to struck in me and in every reader's heart.
I like how as Liam found his soul mate he overcame similar struggles his Dad had in finding love. I think it truly shows the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I would have loved to know if he read her book Bleeding Love to see his reaction to the rawness of it. I also wonder if Meghan ever let Dani in on her previous life or even Lee's Mom. Man there is some conversation they could relate too.
I love how the vision of Liam finding love was mirrored by what he sees in his parents. It was great that this story and the previous one focuses on strong foundations and finding that love even if you aren't from a broken home.
Molly is FABULOUS, oh man that child. I could just reach out and bounce a curl of hers lol. I feel like she will be the C-man of this series. Here's to tea parties and makeovers.
I don't know where to even begin to tell you how much I loved this book. Liam has to be the sweetest and sexiest male characters I've read. Megan was the strongest and sweetest characters I've read. Liam was so determined to get Megan to live again and through his determination he was able to make Megan realize just what she was missing out on in life. Megan lost her husband a few years ago and has been in a depression so deep, she has denied herself and her daughter any type of life, just not realizing it. I absolutely loved this story, it really shows you what the true power of love can do. Out of all the men Harper has written about Axel was always my favorite, but Liam has just taken his spot. This was an absolutely fabulous book and we all want the type of man Liam is, strong, determined, sexy and downright the best man ever. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
