Blendtec Twister Jar
The Twister jar is designed to blend your thickest recipes with ease
The Twister jar is designed to blend your thickest recipes, such as nut butters, hummus, baby food, dips, thick shakes, dressings and more! Best of all, the Twister jar is compatible with all Blendtec consumer blenders.
To use the jar, simply add ingredients and twist the lid counter-clockwise while the blend cycle is running. This twisting motion forces the ingredients from the sides of the jar back into the blade, allowing you to achieve a perfect blend every time.
Also included is the Spectacular spatula—engineered specifically for the Twister. We made this spatula just the right length and shape so you can get nearly every morsel out of your jar.
Features include all of these unique Blendtec advantages:
- Patented Twister lid
- Mini Gripper lid for containing thinner blends
- Patented single-prong tuned wingtip blade
- Easy-to-read jar markings up to 16 fl oz
- Durable BPA-free material that stands up to heavy use
- Compatible with all Blendtec consumer blenders, not compatible with Blendtec mixers.
- 3-Year Warranty
Anatomy of the Twister
THICK, THICKER, THICKEST
IF you could blend cream cheese, would you? How about nut butters? Hummus? If you think it's too thick, it's probably not. Not for the Blendtec Twister jar.
The secret is the patent-pending Twister lid featuring tines that run along the inner side of the jar. As the blade forces ingredients onto the side of the jar, you simply twist the lid to scrape the ingredients back into the lid blending vortex.
The result is fast blending of thick ingredients, without stopping to scrape the sides manually.
It also comes with a Gripper lid to contain thinner, single-serve blends.
STAINLESS STEEL – THE PROFESSIONAL'S CHOICE
Blendtec's ultra-hard stainless steel blades are cold-forged and tuned for heavy use. This allows them to be stronger and resist corrosion much better than lesser blades.
SINGLE BLADE, MANY ADVANTAGES
Blendtec's patented vertical wingtips and precision angles are engineered for ultimate efficiency. The distinct single-blade design allows your ingredients to fall easily in front of the blades.
NO DETAIL TOO SMALL
Even the smallest parts in a Blendtec product have received big attention from our engineers.
Blade assembly nut
Round and smooth for easy cleaning—and—permanently attached at the factory – adding to jar safety.
Sonically welded into the jar for extra strength and durability.
THE FIGHT AGAINST FRICTION
Friction is the nemesis of all high-powered equipment. Ball bearings reduce friction so you can blend faster and quieter. It's all surrounded by a rubber mount that absorbs the shock produced by blending ice and frozen fruit.
Top customer reviews
The next day I called Blendtec customer service and told the rep what happened; the rep appeared familiar with this issue. The rep asked me to throw away the old jar and ordered me a replacement one. I received the replacement jar in about a week. Good customer service.
After I received my replacement jar, I started making cashew butter again. This time, it took only one try to break the jar, a broken black rubber ring was found in my cashew butter. I wondered where did this thing come from? There was no noise or smoke this time. I got curious about what happened so I compared my broken twister jar with the photo of blade assembly on the Amazon product page. It turns out that there should be a black rubber ring between the blade and the base of the jar. Upon close examination the black rubber ring on my jar was gone; I figured it got into my cashew butter due to the severe friction force from blending the raw cashew. At that point I realized that the tiny black pieces found in the butter from my 1st jar were shredded pieces of the rubber ring. Look at the photo of my twister jar and you will find there's no black rubber ring between the blade and the base of the jar.
The dislocated and shredded rubber can cause health hazards. By just sending out replacement jar with exactly the same issue won’t solve the problem. Blendtec should recall the product and redesign the blade assembly. Buyer beware.
I bought the large and small twister jars to test them out. I made nut butter, of course, which came out wonderful. No disputing that this jar is great for nut butter. But my grocery store sells their own nut butter without any additives, and I'd have to live off the stuff for years before I recoup the cost of this jar. I wanted to use it for so much more.
All the BlendTec recipes can be made using any of their jars, the only difference being that some jars perform better for some recipes and some jars allow you to make more than others. I was hoping the twister jar would do double duty and allow me to make single size smoothies so I wouldn't have to break out and clean the square jar. Well, the large twister jar does - it even has a spout and a tight fitting lid which is great for this. But it's just as tall as the square jar and because it's circular, it doesn't perform as well with frozen ingredients. I'd be willing to trade some performance for the small twister jar, but it doesn't have a spout and therefore you can't use the tight fitting lid that comes with the large jar, because it won't fit.
Sigh... in the end, I sent the two twister jars back. In a perfect world, I'd buy a BlendTec setup as follows: One WildSide jar (best all around performance, and large capacity) and one small twister jar (IF, big IF, they redesigned it and supplied it with a tight fitting lid and pour spout). Those would be the only two jars I'd really need and would serve two different purposes.
Could the Total Blender possibly be improved upon? Well, since you asked...YES, and the BlendTec Twister Jar does the trick. We use nut butters in cooking fairly regularly, but have you checked the price of almond butter lately? Yikes! I did a down-and-dirty analysis that proved to me that the purchase of this (admittedly pricey) accessory would pay for itself in about a year, assuming that we made our own nut butters. Well, when the Twister Jar arrived today, the first thing I did (after a quick wash, of course) was to whip up a batch of almond butter. A cup and a half of raw almonds, pop the special Twister lid on the jar, cranked the BlendTec up to 7 and turned the Twister lid in a counter-clockwise direction. It took about 90 seconds to reach the consistency that I wanted, but when I opened the lid, the aroma of warm almond butter filled the air. Having just baked some whole wheat bread that was cooling on the counter, I couldn't resist slicing off a piece and slathering on some of this heady mix, and it was wonderful -- smooth, warm, creamy, perfectly blended.
So, now we own the BlendTec Total Blender, the Wildside Jar, the Four-sided Jar, the Twister Jar, as well as the BlendTec home flour mill, and I have to say that the investment in these quality-made products is absolutely among the best purchases we've made. We can now easily mill our own bulk-purchased grains, make bread, then enjoy it with our own home-made (and relatively cheap) nut butters, and wash it all down with a great smoothie! I can't say enough about the BlendTec products we own. Are they expensive? Sure, but only if you allow them to sit unused in a cupboard. If you put them to use, you'll easily justify the price in money saved on processed foods and better, healthier meals. I'm a lifelong fan of BlendTec! (and though it may sound like it, I'm NOT associated with BlendTec in any way, except as a happy customer!)
