Blendtec Classic Series
Blendtec Classic 575 with WildSide+ Jar and Mini WildSide Jar
Based on our iconic original of YouTube fame, our Classic Series blenders simplify your kitchen, doing the work of many other kitchen machines. An array of user-friendly features, including one-touch timed cycles and preprogrammed settings, ensure your favorite recipes turn out perfectly every time.
Power and versatility in blending doesn’t have to come at a premium. The Blendtec Classic 575 makes the smoothest of smoothies using the toughest ingredients like ice and frozen fruit. Whether you’re making smoothies or countless other delicious, healthy recipes, the Classic 575 delivers everything you’d ever want in a blender without breaking the bank.
The patented WildSide jar features an extra-wide base and a narrow fifth 'wild' side that helps create a faster, smoother blend. Two vertical ridges on the interior walls disrupt the blending pattern even further, allowing ingredients to hit two additional surfaces and further accelerating the blending process.
The FourSide jar’s square shape blends much better than traditional round jars. The jar also generates more friction, heating soups and hot drinks quickly and easily. It’s also especially good for grinding grains and making smaller quantities.

Is also fairly noisy, so no midnight mixers without everybody being awake.
My wife and I make smoothies nearly every day and were happy with the blender we were using; that is, until we began using this Blendtec Classic 575 Blender.
It works great whether grinding nuts, grain, frozen fruit, ice or vegetables in short order!
This preprogrammed, easy to clean, professional quality high speed blender is the best that we have ever owned.
It provides the epitome of “smooth” in smoothies!
The square shaped jar is big enough to make enough smoothies for my wife and I at the same time; however, it works equally well with small quantities.
This powerful blender is noisy, but quick and efficient.
The quality of this blender is well-worth the price.
We love it and recommend it without reservation to friends and family!
I also tried Blendtec's Peanut Butter Cookie recipe. Yum! The dough mixed well and it was easy to clean the jar...clean cycle took care of 90%. And when I do have to put some effort into cleaning the blade area I don't have to worry about cutting myself since the blades aren't sharp.
The jar is marked with 4 types of measurements; ounces, cups, milliliters, and centiliters. Since I collect cookbooks and some are from countries using measurements I'm not as familiar with I like that I don't have to do the math, the jar does it for me.
I appreciate the timed features; it blends on its own while I clean up. Set it and forget it - just make sure all 4 corners of the lid have snapped into place! The ability to make and heat soup is a real time saver, but I won't do much of that while it's still summer. The cleaning feature is nice, but isn't that how most of us have always cleaned our blenders?
My complaints have nothing to do with the actual blender but with the information supplied, or not supplied. The manual is almost useless. Nowhere does it show a display of the panel with the buttons labeled. The recipes included (only 10) often say "press salsa" or "press whole juice" but the Classic 575 does not have those buttons. Fortunately, in the notes they translate that into the speed number button that corresponds with the Classic 575 if you assign numbers 2, 3, and 4 to the three dots between Lo and Hi.
When I browsed the site for recipes I discovered several recipes which said to select specific buttons not on the 575 but no conversion was listed. I took the time to figure out the conversion, all the while wondering why they don't address that in every recipe. Based on what I found I came up with the following conversion chart which I keep with the blender for those recipes which are fussy and require a specific speed. For the most part speed setting is common sense, but this is an extraordinary blender and making use of its setting gives superior results.
Please correct me if you feel my conversion skills are shaky.
Lo (1) - ice cream, frozen treats
Medium low (3) - batters, sauces, salad dressings, dips, salsas
Medium (5) - crush ice, batters
Medium high (7) - whole juice [this is also the Pulse speed]
High (9) - soup, hot, syrup
My friend has a Vitamix and is equally impressed with my Blendtec. Both blenders are for the serious blender user who wants the power, quality, and customer service of a high end blender. I suspect this Blendtec Classic 575 is going to change my prepping and cooking life for the better.
At the risk if seeming greedy, it would be nice if Blendtec would include the 200 page cookbook given the price of the blender. However, I am so impressed with the blender that I decided not to deduct a star for lack of instructions, recipes, and button labeling in the manual and on their site.
When unpacking the blender, I noticed it just had a recipe book with a page in it of how to use the blender for documentation. Since this is a Vine review product, it is possible that Blendtec still intends to add documentation. I was able to find a 14 page Classic 575 user manual on Blendtec's website.
The mixing jars that come with the Blendtec are a tough plastic. I find it nice that the jars fit into each other for storage. The lids snap onto the jars to form a good seal which prevents liquid from splashing out. Just be careful to ensure that all 4 corners are snapped in, otherwise you will get liquid flying out.
The base is nice and solid with a smooth surface with few nooks or crannies (this is especially important when cleaning). The base has the power button at the back... that is strange to me, I don't want to keep this on all the time so don't like having to reach around back to turn it on, would prefer the button on the front.
The control panel is a series of pressure sensitive buttons with an LCD display. The display lights up when the Blendtec is powered on. When using a blend cycle, the blender will count down time left on the cycle. When using a constant blend (low up to high), the timer will count up showing how long in seconds that the blender has been running. When not blending, the display shows how many times the the blender has been used and increments each time you use the blender. To be honest, this number confused me when I first saw it because I thought the blender has paused while counting down a blend cycle. I would prefer it not be displayed or just be accessible after pressing a combination of buttons for troubleshooting.
I like the functionality of some of the blend cycle buttons... there are 4: Smoothie/60 second/90 second/clean. The smoothie is nice as it has a slow, fast, slow fast timed cycle to blend smoothies. I've used it a lot and like being able to hit a button and walk away. The cleaning cycle is brilliant too... I do the same thing with my Vita-mix, I put in hot water and sometimes a tiny (!) bit of dish soap to clean the jar. I like being able to do this with the Blendtec and walk away or do something else while it is cleaning.
Actually using the blender...
One thing I noticed is this blender doesn't come with a tool to help move items jammed up in the blender. I wish Blendtec had included one. If you follow the instructions of liquids and soft stuff first and then more solid things like apples or ice, you usually won't run into issues. Unless, of course, you do an adhoc recipe and don't put enough liquids in and put too much ice in (which I did)... I found the blender would run into cavitation issues... that is where an air pocket forms and then the materials won't move in the jar to blend. And then you need a tool to move the materials.... Blendtec has this tool, I'm just not sure if it is for specific jars or for all jars.
I found when using the blender with the right amount of liquid or juicy ingredients, the blender worked very well. Just like the Vitamix, I could through things in without working about whether the blender would fully break them apart. I really like having that confidence in a blender... you know it will work and get the job done.
While I like the functionality of the blend cycle control buttons, I have my doubts about the control panel's push buttons as a whole... I am concerned with how well it will endure over time. This is a product you buy to own for a decade or more (and it should last)... that puts any controls on the product to the durability test. I've used different products with these types of buttons and after several years they can get touchy and work intermittently.
As we move further into the connected age of wifi and blutooth, it may be a near feature to be about program different blend cycles into the Blendtec for different recipes (some recipes/smoothies may need different blend times). It would be near to have something like 5 pre-programmed buttons that you can access through an app on your phone or ipad to change as you deem needed.
Over all.... this is a great blender. It has the power to quickly and thoroughly blend everything into a smooth consistency. This is an excellent tool if you have need for it. The cost is high, but the product will last a long time while also working hard.
