Blessed Mayhem: The Mayhem Series: #2 Kindle Edition
This book has so many twists and turns it kept me guessing the whole way through. Filled with snarky characters and a killer that gets a thrill out of turning his victims into masterpieces, and you have one thrilling ride!
Shawnee Daniels is a memorable heroine; part-time cat burglar, full-time police computer techie, she is all attitude, strong, brave, and maybe a little bit naive.
Mr. Mayhem; talk about a complex character! Ms. Coletta does a stupendous job of drawing the reader into the chilling mind of a serial killer with a twisted sense of humor and an imaginative way of murdering his victims. Oh yeah, he trains crows to do his bidding, as well!
This book will stay with you long after it's finished, a highly recommended read."

From the Author
As such, I offer the same thrill-ride to you, dear reader. I spend countless hours of research before I write one word. Read the acknowledgements in my books and you'll see it takes a village to create a world worth spending time in. Chatting with experts and living the scenes myself in order to feel my characters' terror, sadness, pain, is one of my favorite parts of the process. Forensics, criminal investigations, witnessing what happens to the body after death, and delving into the mind of serial killers is what intrigues me most.
My focus, however, is always on you. I hope you'll enjoy reading my stories as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Because if it weren't for you, dear reader, I wouldn't get to live my dream. Thank you for your interest in my work.
All books in Mayhem Series can stand alone, but if you prefer to read in order, they're numbered this way, with the crossover novellas at the half mark:
WINGS OF MAYHEM, Book 1
HACKED, Book 1.5
BLESSED MAYHEM, Book 2
FRACTURED LIVES, Book 2.5
SILENT MAYHEM, Book 3
I AM MAYHEM, Book 4, is slated for release in Summer 2020.

Join Shawnee on her next pulse-pounding adventure when she returns to her old ways and ends up in more trouble than she bargained for when she interrupts a serial killer at work. She becomes a fascinating temptation impossible to resist for Mr. Mayhem and with the help of his family of crows draws her into his game. In this intense installment will Shawnee become the hunter or the prey?
Coletta’s books are always entertaining and hold my interest. She has a unique writing still that is all her own and the research and development of her stories and characters are enjoyable and fascinating and always include extra twists that add a new level of intrigue to her writing. I look forward to the next book in the series.
And if you enjoy this series, check out Hacked – a crossover novella with Susan Stoker’s Special Forces World where Shawnee and her boyfriend, Detective Samuels, take on another serial killer with a unique style for committing murder and also Fractured Lives – a crossover novella with Elle James’s Brotherhood Protectors World where Shawnee and Samuels join forces with retired SEAL Brandon Rayne (aka Boomer) to sort out the mysterious disappearances of couples from a popular tourist destination, with Boomer’s fiancée as the latest to disappear.
If you fancy reading the series in order, you would want to read: 1) Wings of Mayhem, 2) Hacked, 3) Blessed Mayhem, 4) Fractured Lives
Happy reading to all!
I’ve been watching Coletta develop her unique style of storytelling and complicated characters during the past several years, and I’ve become a devoted fan of her fiction. Like any experienced crime writer she begins with a murder. Then she places her protagonist in jeopardy and heaps on the complications. Shawnee is caught, again and again, between a rock and a hard place. Although she’s incredibly resourceful, you just know one of these days she’ll get into trouble she can’t talk or fight her way out of.
Or the people closest to her will be killed, and it will be her fault for placing them in jeopardy.
This time around she crosses paths with Mr. Mayhem, a chilling serial killer who is equally genteel and sadistic. Not your garden-variety killer, Mayhem is cultured, intelligent, and able to communicate with several crows he has trained to do his bidding. The crows (especially Poe) are an ingenious touch, making this brilliantly-imagined character intoxicating and unique.
One of my favorite sections of the novel is when Mayhem and Shawnee briefly set aside their differences to save a young girl. Those scenes have “movie” written all over them, and I have no doubt that Coletta’s work will one day see such accolades. She’s a definitely a star in her genre and a talent to watch. I eagerly look forward to the next Shawnee adventure.
Shawnee Daniels is never the woman she wants you to believe she is. By day, Shawnee is a respected hacker for the police department. Got something to hide? Don’t bury it in a computer. You can’t bury it deep enough. Shawnee will find it. The police would be lost without her.
By night, however, Shawnee takes on another life. She’s a cat burglar. Sometimes it’s about the money. Sometimes it’s about revenge. Got something expensive? She’ll find it. Shawnee is as secretive and stealthy as a ghost in the night.
If she’s the hero, who’s the villain? Enter Mister Mayhem. He’s well-spoken and sophisticated.
He’s well-dressed and a gentleman. He’s genteel. He’s a genius. He kills women for pleasure. Mister Mayhem may well be the most chilling, most evil serial killer you will ever meet. Pray you don’t meet him alone. Or in the dark.
Just take a look when Shawnee Daniels, cat burglar, meets him for the first time. Alone. And in the dark. He’s holding a knife and smiling. Shawnee will die. Maybe not tonight, but he will kill her. She is watching him as he says quietly: “Why is everyone in such a rush? Life is precious. You should appreciate the fact that I’m willing to take my time. Color me curious, but you intrigue me, with your tough girl routine, the makeup, the hair, even the nose piercing.” Each time he sloughed off a shrug, blood boiled in my veins” I suppose some might find it attractive.”
That’s chapter one. And the game has begun.
Blessed Mayhem is a riveting suspense thriller that moves at breakneck speed, but you witness each tantalizing, frightening move as if the story is taking place in slow motion. You can taste the fear. You can feel your own skin crawl. The evil in the room and in the story is palpable. You are torn in your decisions. You want to escape it all. You can’t bear to leave until it’s over. And the nightmares may ever end.

However, the characters that outshine them all are Poe, Edgar, and Allen I have developed a newfound respect for the crows which frequent my back garden for food, and have even named one of them! (I know, right?)
Blessed Mayhem is a brilliant work that is every bit as enthralling as Wings of Mayhem. I didn't want it to end in as much as I have already started reading Sue Coletta's third book in this series: Silent Mayhem.
If you love to read a good thriller/suspense with lots of twists, turns, forensics, and techno stuff in addition to just the gory bits, I highly recommend The Mayhem Series.
