This started off great and was a really fun read until about 75% of the story...then it just rushed to yet another predictable ending. Sigh.
Note that on a Kindle, 'Blind Date' ends at @ 71%, followed by the first chapters of three other books: 'Everything's Better With Lisa', 'Everything's Better With Kimberly', and 'Cherishing the Goddess', PLUS, synopses for three other books. REALLY???

For such a short book, I thought the book ending at 80% was kind of a shocker. I don’t mind books ending at the 90-95% mark but that made this book less than 100 pages. The story itself was cute and I liked the twist at the moment of truth but 100 pages just wasn’t enough for me to fall in love with Mike and Jordyn the way I thought I would. I like romances with a bit more steam and conflict, so I’m sure I’m just not the target audience for a romance this light and fluffy. I did enjoy it a lot but not enough to reread it. Love the cover!

This cute novella had me smiling from the first paragraph! It’s basically an ode to The Ripped Bodice and Culver City, which made me want to visit even more than I already did.
The premise is basically one of my life’s dreams: meeting and then falling for a cute single guy at a bookstore. In this case, Mike is a man who reads romance and he really knows his stuff. Jordyn’s in town for a job interview and so she has no real reason to say no to the invitation to lunch which is followed by another activity and then another. They are smitten kittens, that’s for sure.
For such a short novella, it manages to do a lot with exploring romance archetypes (Mike is a cinnamon roll but he had a rake period in college) and power dynamics. I didn’t fully understand the barrier in place regarding Mike's job. But I did enjoy seeing how it was resolved.
CW: heroine’s parents went through infertility before having her, hero’s sister died in a car accident 5 years ago, pregnancy in epilogue

Why can't this happen to me? Why can't I meet my soulmate in a romance bookstore?
Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2020Verified Purchase
In "Blind date with a book boyfriend", we follow Jordan and Mike, who meet in a bookstore and decide to spend the day together. Now, I don't really care how much time a romance book takes place in; it could take place in 10 years or 24 hours and it could have the same effect on me because what I care about is that I see the characters really getting to know each other. I want to read about them talking to each other or read about the mc saying that they spend hours getting to know the other one or stuff like that, and that's what I got here. It still felt a bit insta-lovey at the very beginning, but I can totally ignore that because of the connection I saw building between them.
Mike and Jordan were such an adorable couple, everything they did, the way they talked to each other. Jordan was amazing and Mike was such a sweetheart. He would go and do all these cute things and say sweet stuff and I melted. I loved them both so much, I loved how strong and smart they were, and how they overcome what came to them in a mature way without dragging it or making it more dramatic than it was.
I loved all the stuff I've mentioned previously, but one of the things I adored was all the times we got references of romance books or when one was mentioned and I could go like "oh, I know that one" or "I've read that one" or "that one's on my tbr". It was so much fun!
"Blind date with a book boyfriend" is just a romance reader's heaven. It's fluffy, it's cute, it's light, it goes to the point and it's such a good time. Now I need to read the author's previous books.

It's been a while since I've read a (practically) love- at-first-sight story and it was enjoyable, getting better as it progressed. I had a clear picture in my mind of how Mike looked, which always makes the reading experience more interesting.
What I liked most was Mike making it clear he wasn't giving up easily, but not in such a way that was doing too much (in my opinion).
The prologue was a cool wrap-up, though I thought all the 'our' references was teeny overkill (I mean, we get it) but that wasn't a terrible thing and totally relative.
I really dug the story, overall. Call me a sucker for a fairytale-ish romance. That kind of stuff never happens to me. LOL

Eden creates absolute magic bringing adorable Jordyn and Mike to life in Blind Date with a Book Boyfriend. This amazing, amusing, and flirty novella has everything that makes romance novels extraordinary.
Eden adeptly composes a sassy, seasoned, and sexy rom-com from beginning to end, and doesn't drop the ball with a saggy middle.
Eden brilliantly constructs an array of authentic characters, witty dialogue, and an electrifying, fun, and sizzling plot.
Eden knots the challenge the couple faces with a plausible solution, which in itself deserves all the stars.

The perfect novella for romance lovers. If you read the first two sentences and you knew exactly what book is being referenced, you will adore this book. If you don't recognize it, don't worry, the answer comes soon enough and the author put a link in the appendix. Plus you will still love this book because it's got a hot romance novel reading hero and snappy dialogue and a whirlwind meet cute first date instant connection and a big gooey HEA. I don't just highly recommend this, I think it's a must read!!

Dear Lucy Eden, I need a million more stories about Jordyn and Mike. As someone who's been lucky enough to visit the Ripped Bodice Bookstore, it was SUPER fun to read this novella. And it gave me all the feels. I told my sister to read it, which is saying something. She's not a big reader, but I knew she'd love this one. And now I'm craving In-N-Out. You've wrecked me for the rest of the day.

I loved this novella! I'm not usually one for insta-love but I really loved this story!
The characters were well developed and the story executed so well that I fell in love with them. Mike was so sweet and Jordyn was a NORMAL woman which I loved, even down to her concerns over getting intimate - I loved that.
The dialogue between the two was so natural and had me grinning like a loon and laughing and sighing so many times. I also loved that the epilogue gave us a glimpse of life after the initial 24-48 hours, HEA complete yesss!
Loved it and would recommend it to anyone, quick to read and irresistible to enjoy :)
