I absolutely hate when I believe I am downloading a short story and it is an inconclusive teaser! The FULL story is not even available until the Fall.
I hate being totally ensnared in a riveting story and then left hanging. The plot is captivating. The characters are fascinating - the dragon, the fae, the human with witch's blood - you want to know more about all of them. The author drops you into a world changing battle and once you find a place to catch your breath and find the wounded hunter who rescues Isla - the author says "oh - never mind - come back in 6 months". THAT is EXACTLY why I HATE IT!!

***PLEASE NOTE*** I HAVE CHANGED MY RATING *** The original review above is based on a different version that was worthy of only 1 star. Kait Nolan, commented here that she added a couple of extra pages which I was able to read on [...]. The additional scene made a huge difference in my opinion of this short story. The extra ending actually provides satisfying closure to the immediate story while still enticing you to read the actual book when it is published this fall. Had this been the original ending I would not have felt so vehemently aggravated by being left hanging. That being said, I wanted to re-evaluate the story as honestly and as objectively as possible as if I had not read the ending 2 weeks later but had read the entire 35 pages at one sitting. This is a short story where I was completely engrossed in the plot and enchanted by the characters. OBVIOUSLY this short story DOES evoke some pretty strong emotional responses!!
Amazon did not publish my revised rating. By deleting my original review all attached comments including the one from the author will also be deleted. The amended version of this story earned 5 stars.

I am SHOCKED a free book that I actually enjoyed.

The GOOD:
The story was very intriguing, it actually kept me wanting to read, if your into paranormal reads then this would be a book for you. Ransom is a contract killer of the worst kind, who is feared, he is the strong and quiet type. You get a sense of a very bad man but I also sense a good in him. Isla has been held captive for 20 years by Bael, who keeps a tight watch over her because of her powers of touch to see the future. Ransom works for Bael at times but sees an opportunity to rescue Isla to take her to the underground who are a group that fights against people like Bael and many others, Ransom has his reasons in wanting to rescue Isla as well as giving her to the underground group. I loved it and wouldn't mind reading about this world of paranormal as it really takes you away to another world when your reading, Ranson and Isla chemistry was good granted you didn't get to see much of it. I haven't read anything by this author, I also see that there are two books already written regarding this series including Mick who the author introduces you to towards the ending of the book.

The BAD
It's was over so quickly. This was the worst and most wicked teaser, just when you want to know what will happen to Ransom because he was hurt it was over, why because we will have to wait for the full length version of of the book called Revelation. I look forward to the series Mirus and will try to get my feet wet with the other books.

I downloaded this short story as a freebie for my Kindle. It is a lead in or teaser story, but wraps up with enough closer to allow the reader to breath in a non-panicked fashion and wait. Ha ha.

Please note - this short ends with a final vision involving Isla and Ransom. If your file ends with Isla in the office of the bar, you do not have the updated file. Swing back to the retailer you got it from and ask customer service to send you the most recent file.

This story is pure fantasy and paranormal goodness. Vampires, Seers, Wraiths, Faes oh my! The opening chapter is a kick-butt action scene. It was quite unique and I loved it.

I enjoyed all the characters. The story premise is just getting under way and sounds like loads of fun. Ransom and Isla make a perfect sexy couple. Sparks are flying already and I am looking forward to the actual fireworks.

Kait Nolan has a wonderful knack of writing movement and action. I have no idea how she can give the reader such tingles with simple words like: "through the tunnel" or "we need to leave". Amazing. I can image that reading an entire novel written by Nolan would be great fun.

Blindsight is a nice sample of this storyline and these characters. I look forward to reading Revelation once it is released.

A Seer, Isla has been held captive by a vicious crimelord for most of her life. Her ability has been used to destroy anyone who opposes him. Ransom is a Fae assassin who sometimes takes commissions from this same crimelord. He comes to her rescue, but when she touches him, she sees blood and death.

I guess I'll have to pick up the full length sequel this fall. This was a great short story, but a little too short for my taste. I wanted more... more...more! Can't wait to read the other Mirus stories. Highly recommended.
