23Jan2013 After reading a bad review on here I thought I would update my review. The guy must not have read my short review as he was upset that the crossbow bolt went through the target. if you check out the picture I posted with the product you will see the bolt from a Barnett Ghost 350 will bury to the quills with the broadhead sticking out the other side. This target works by by the bolt/arrow causing friction which heats up the plastic in the target which gets sticky and slows the bolt/arrow. Once the plastic cools off it is easier to get the bolt/arrow out. I have to twist or push the bolt/arrow to get it broken free. If the target has cooled off the arrow will then slide out easily. I usually shoot three, walk down and start removing the first as it has cooled down by then. Taking the broadhead off does make it easier to remove the bolt/arrow. I have pulled the quills through without damaging them but I can see how they could be damaged doing this.
Try avoid hitting the edges of the target as it will cut the band which hold the layers together. There is also plywood on some of the sides.
The target has held up great to my crossbow and my buddies bow.
After having this thing for a few months I have some things to add. I'm decreasing from 5 stars to 4. I'd only take it down to 4.5 I that was an option. I still think it's a good target for field tips. DO NOT use broad heads on this thing. It'll make it soft immediately. I shot about 500 field tip shots with no signs of wear before taking about 10 shots with broad heads to make sure I had no variance between the 2 before last hunting season. Now some arrows will pass through if I hit dead center. Also... Get the. 20" or 22" instead. This one is a little small for shooting at the dots in the corners once you get back past 35 yards or so. ( unless your a pretty good archer, I'm average at best). Still a quality target. I an on buying another one in the 20" or 22" size.
