A Glimpse of the Future?
on July 23, 2014
Provocative, sobering, and prescient are some of the words that come to my mind after reading the book Blood on the Altar by Thomas Horn. Frankly, the message is no less provoking than the title, but that is what you expect when thirteen respected prophecy teachers combine their knowledge to explore the subject of the true Biblical “church” in these last days. With a forward by Stephen Quayle and eleven chapters by twelve different authors, I can tell you this is a book that will challenge you to carefully consider some of your long-held assumptions.
Three chapters that really stood out to me:
1. Thomas Horn’s chapter, Forgotten Aspect of Bible Prophecy, is a stark reminder of the evil “normal” people are capable of under certain circumstances.
2. Sharon Gilbert’s chapter on Something Wicked This Way Comes will make you think about pulling the plug on your computer and tossing your cell phone in the trash. Truly frightening!
3. Douglas Krieger and Douglas Woodward in their chapter on When Antichrist Reveals Himself in America make a compelling case for the marriage of Christianity and patriotism as a possible vehicle for the rise of the Antichrist. Did you know Adolf Hitler used Christianity as basis for his atrocities against the Jews? Did you know “normal” Christians thought they were doing god’s work in carrying out Hitler’s vision of the future? Don’t think this can happen again? Read this chapter and find out why you are wrong.
In summary, I can’t say I agree with everything written in this book but there is more than enough insights by these thirteen authors to make this book worth adding to your library on Bible prophecy. Get the book and then open your Bible and “see if these things be so”.
