I loved this book and definitely recommend it to romance readers, dark fiction lovers, vampire enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys the paranormal, legends, or myths. This author presents an intriguing take on the state of vampirism and the nature of the condition. She also executes a touching love story while creating a thrilling tale of lust, lies, and the basic human desire to be in control of one's own fate.
Great book! This is one I shall keep in my personal library and read again, and again!
The prolog drew me in, surprised me, and made sure I had to read the rest. I found the characters interesting and their plights made me want to know more and learn their history, especially what their futures held in store. I am not a huge fan of Vampire lore, however, this twist was interesting and made me a fan.
Our less than pencil thin protagonist goes against her parent's wishes and to attend college, accepting an internship from a scientist, one she not only aspires to but a man who attracts her. While they fight their feelings eventually love wins out. He is trying to come up with something that helps yellow fever sufferers more than a vaccine for prevention—or so he says and his experiments indicate. However, there is more. Much more. There is also a connection to the dormitory where she lives. She has roommates and a landlady that add some of the traditional lore of the city to her story.
Will love win out? Or will their efforts be in vain? Who is on her side? Will the vicious, disgusting creatures she encounters succeed?
I have read several books from this author and will be sure to follow her closely now for the exceptional writing, interesting characters, and surprising plot lines, and twists. I strongly recommend this to PNR fans and newcomers alike.
There is love; intrigue, adventure and much more, hope there are more books. I highly recommend this one.
