Thus the search is on to find their mates, a journey that takes them eastward to China and the Himalayas--in fact, the mythical place called Himmapan. It is there that the flight meets Shr-Zen, leader of the Niu-Wen, more commonly known as Ghilen. In Shr-Zen, the author introduces one of the most interesting albeit enigmatic characters in the story. Shr-Zen is alternately the apex of "wise woman" and terrifying. The Chinese communist regime employed many of the same tactics as their Soviet counterparts to capture and redirect the magical power of the dragon clans for their own dark purposes. Shr-Zen is to help guide them through this treacherous space to find what they are looking for.
All this traveling around in dragon form is nonetheless unsettling to Anne. She deeply misses her human family, who think she is dead, and sometimes falls into depression at the loss. But there is no turning back now and the dragon flight must learn of the history of their race while guarding against unsuspected traitors in their midst.
This book is a must-read. The first in the series sets the initial story arc and the main characters, but in this sequel, it all comes together. I am very much looking forward to reading the third and final in the series, which is supposed to be published in the spring ('14) to find out how the problem of dragon mates is resolved.
This is the second book on the Red Slaves Series. The main character is Anne. She has been hiding out in the caves. This story takes place a month into the future. Anne doesn't believe in the paranormal and she isn't very accepting that she is a dragon and Ivan, who she is staying with in the caves, is her mate. Ivan is just sweet and amazing.
There is drama in this story and yummy relations. The KGB is trying to capture Anne, Ivan, Fyodor and Vasily, so they can be slaves again...
In this novel, Anne asks a lot of questions that necessarily don't need to be answered. Ivan is kind of put on the back burner by her. Which made me a little sad. We find out a lot about him in this story!
There is a lot that goes on and I am not going to spoil it for you! I recommend this book! I hated to put it down while I was reading.
4.5 out of 5 stars!
