Kristen Painter's Last Blood, the conclusion to the "House of Comarré" series left me feeling a little uncertain... Not because it was a bad book or because anything was left wide-open but because everything just felt too... easy. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book and Chrysabelle and Mal still had to face a lot of obstacles, but I never felt worried that they wouldn't succeed. I am happy with the way Ms. Painter wrapped up the series, but I just thought there would be a lot more tension throughout the book. Slight spoilers might be in this review, you have been warned!

Chrysabelle and Mal start off the book estranged as a fae removed Mal's love in the previous novel. That's the first problem that Chrys tackles and I have to say that I really thought there would be some kind of fallout from the way she went about things, but no. It kind of makes this plot point seem like a throwaway after such a heart-wrenching cliffhanger because Mal comes back to himself so quickly and easily. They spend the rest of the book trying to get rid of Tatiana and her now grown and very evil daughter Lilith.

Now, I've never been a huge Tatiana fan but I felt like she was duped way too easily throughout this novel. I'm not unhappy with her fate in Last Blood; I just though out she would go out with a bang instead of a whimper. There is a slight twist with the Octavian storyline that just felt oddly placed and almost unnecessary. I would have been fine with leaving things the way they were in the previous book. The Castus Sanguis played a very tiny role in this book and I have to say I was disappointed.

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this series.... until this last installment! Very disappointed in how the character storylines ended. It seems that it all was just rushed to have each character's circumstance boringly tied up in a bow just to end the series. Expected the Malcolm and Chrysabelle saga to have a more spectacular finish. Even the secondary characters, were just left blah! There was potential for Creek to go off on his own series, but nothing with the end of this book eluded to that . His character ends with little more than a job change. Where did all the fabulous storyline and writing go! BOO!

Wow! I just finished reading this and I am practically speechless! this book was so amazing it is hard to put it into words! I read it as slow as I could to savoir each word as I knew this was the last book and I didn't want it to be over but now that it is I am filled with contentment. Kristen did an amazing job at tying the series off there were no lose ends and it all ended beautifully and with a bang!..lol

In this book we pick up where we left off with Chrysabelle and Mal at odds. Chrysabelle must save or kill the man she loves to protect that which is even more important to her, a secret that not even Mal is aware of. She will do what she must to save him but if she can't she must kill him.

Meanwhile the ancients now need Tatiana help for the child they stole from her is now reeking havoc on them and must be stopped. Tatiana enlists the help of Mal with the child Lilith who isn't at all what she once was. Together they embark on a perilous mission.

With all hanging in the balance who will survive, who will die and will everyone stay on the same side? Who will be the one to draw Last Blood?

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down! I tried my hardest to read it slowly but it was sooo hard!..lol...Fi was my favourite in this one, she always makes me laugh and in this one was no exception

Like: "sounds awesomely not awesome. Only fae would name a bar after a fairy tale. What is it, one giant tea party?"

lol...she cracks me up! I really liked that we got to see more of her strong, independent and tender sides in this book as well.

Creek also had a few choice lines in this one that made me laugh out loud.

Like: "Somebody better start explaining or its going to get dusty in here."

lol...

This book was good! It was a good ending to the series Kristen Painter wrote! I really enjoyed this series. It was so different then anything else out there that it kept me coming back and interested to see what was happening in that world. I cannot wait to read more of Kristen's work.

If you have NOT read the first four books in the House of Comarré series, please read with caution. There are some spoilers that were unavoidable. Proceed with caution . . .

I love Chrysabelle and Mal. This is no secret. With the ending of the fourth book, I was heartbroken, as most other fans were. I went into this book with so much hope but not just for these two; Kristen Painter has made me fall in love with all of her characters and I was so hoping for a happily ever after for all her characters. Dreading the deaths I knew would most definitely be coming because she is not one to shy away from killing characters. While this book was filled with much drama, death and trouble; it was a fantastic conclusion to a series I wish would never end. But alas, all great things must come to an end, right? Thankfully there will be a spinoff series and after having finished this series I am so excited for it.

Mal lost all of his love and all of his feelings for Chrysabelle; while it was very heroic of him to sacrifice himself it was the worst thing he could've done. All he viewed her as now was a food source and one he so wanted to drain. It broke my heart but at the same time it made for some entertaining moments. Because of his prominent blood lust she wasn't safe so they (she and Dominic) opted to drug him until they could find a cure or some way to protect her. He spent a good portion of this book drugged up and harmless.

Doc and Fi are in a good place, romantically, as they have just tied the knot and he is the leader of this town's pride. But you know things are about to get bad once the brother of Doc's ex-pride wife has been placed in your tribe.
