Isaac. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Isaac. He is here to avenge a wrong. He is handsome, successful and hard to resist.
The way Lexi weaves Stas and Issac together through a twist of suspense. This read is thoroughly entertaining. I read this in 24 hours.
Lexi C. Foss has a beautiful style that grips you from the beginning. The book is formatted to be easily read and the chapters are in good size lengths. This is important to me because I struggle with stopping mid chapter in any book.
Blood Laws is one such book. It's a continuing series with an overarching plot and is the debut novel for this author.
Stas is an immortal - only she isn't aware of it - until that is, she meets Issac, another immortal. Only Stas and Issac are meant to be enemies.
Issac, being a Ichorian isn't supposed to fall for a Hydrian - he's supposed to kill them - but in the beginning he finds that Stas may prove useful and sets out to use her to get revenge on the man responsible for the death of his sister. However as time goes on he can't and doesn't want to deny the attraction.
As a PNR, there's lots of drama, tension and a little bloodshed. Theres the mystery and the otherworldly-ness. To me, a good book, whether it be PNR, contemporary, sci-fi, horror or any genre, it has to all flow and have a consistency and this book had it in spades.
I didn't want to put it down, like at all. But real life got in the way, however, as soon as I picked that kindle right back up, I was there, smack dab in the story. It pulled me in and I love it when a book does that, it takes you away.
There's also plenty of hot immortals along the way. The way the author has described them gets me all hot and bothered and there are a fair few to choose from. It's not just the characters you can easily depict either, the way the scenarios are described are to the point and not overly detailed and I prefer that.
I loved Issac's and Stas' chemistry, I mean what a couple! Their chemistry was played just right, there was the banter and the flirting, there was the tension and the seduction, there was most definitely the sexy element. Altogether though the thing that drew me to them as a couple was just this freshness. I enjoyed reading about them and it felt like I was reading PNR with fresh eyes. If a book can do that then it has to be made of good stuff right?
My only criticism? I'm left wanting more and I cannot wait for book 2.
The world that author Lexi C. Foss has created in her story is something that will stick with me forever. In one page she incite enough questions that lasted right up to the end. I love that there's always a pull to flip to the next page. Then back again. Part 2 can't come fast enough!!
Honestly I was sucked in quickly and couldn't put it down. Stas is a woman who held herself together and was easy to like. Hints of the unknown and new made me frustrated right along with Stas just as the urge to keep going and learning was undeniable. I started to make a list of what's what's and who's who. As the story moves along I really liked it even more and the characters, not just the amazing hot guy, and his hot friends.
Yes I said hot GUYS.
There's a lot to this story, it's hot, it's shocking, it has a dusting of comedy, and a lot of mystery. Throughout it all there are Easter eggs just waiting to be found and picked up. It explained more and more as the pages are turned. Once pieced together, and the list forgotten I finished the book and couldn't wait a day to start it again.
Our heroine is Stas, a young women just graduating college (with her Master's) in NYC. One of her best friends is brutally murdered under suspicious circumstances that introduces Stas to Issac, a extremely handsome CEO of a pharmaceutical company that is also a supernatural man. Stas is thrown into a world she never knew about but isn't surprised about it either. These unlikely two form a bond while they are forced into a dangerous situation where their lives could be in jeopardy all while Stas is trying to learn who she really is.
Such a truly amazing story that has you reading all night to find out what happens next.
This story does not end with a pretty little bow wrapped up all nice and complete. The reader is definitely left wanting more with Issac and Stas along with all the other Immortals we meet along the way!
