At the beginning of the book, a zombie clearing, Dora finally is able to shift to her familiar animal. She hadn't been able to shift in the past because she was trying to shift into a wolf like Dirk. Instead she shifts into a domestic house cat. That comes in handy when while on a mission to get chimpanzombie DNA her magic fails, she is pregnant with a dragon as the prophecy foretold, and Dora is captured by the Kindred. Sloane, the daughter of the Kindred that Maddox killed in book 2, now leads this vicious band of killers. The Kindred are on the road to Vegas for the Zombie Games. They have chimpanzombies and captured Benandanti werewolves to wager on in the pit.
During the rescue Dirk is captured and put in the pit games. He wins of course. Shari, the mysterious girl Falco loves turns out to be a protean but also one of the good guys.
After they all escape Dora gives birth to a beautiful baby boy they named Derrick. Dora and Dirk adopt a teenage boy they found in Vegas and solve the zombie problem. The book ended too soon. The final chapter was two months later and the epilogue was two years later. I either want to know what happened or I want follow up.
She has been learning to be a witch and calls her abilities her “witchamacallit” and a lot of endearing and funny moments come into play as she uses them. She flies with a broom, she learns to shift into a cat, much to her wolf mate's bemusement, and uses simple poetry to cast spells. Part of the adventure in this book includes being captured by former enemies, threatened by the Benandanti, but even in the midst of danger there is still time for new discoveries and a little romance for a couple of people in the group.
This series has always had a lot of mystery about the plague that needed to be answered. What in the world had really happened? Who started the Z-phage? Why are electronics going wonky? You will get all the answers in this book as well as a number of surprises. If you like a bit of sci-fi mixed into your paranormal then BLOOD OF THE MOON is perfect for you. I can't tell you what that mixture is as I believe it would be considered a spoiler but I was not expecting this mix at all.
All in all this is a fantastic read that had me going back and re-reading the other books just for the fun of it.
Blood of the Moon is a enjoyable read. It has vivid imagery that allowed me to get lost in the story. It offers action, drama, and romance with a hint of intrigue that kept me entertained. I appreciated its continuity with the previous books in the series. I adored the various twists and turns this conclusion to the series provided, which kept things interesting. I was also pleased by the development of Dirk and Dora's relationship, as well as the progression of Maddox and Rave's relationship. I was also happy with the outcome of Falco's search for "Brumby.". Overall, definitely worth the read.
This book is the last of a trilogy of romantic-post apocalyptic-zombie infested and shape-shifter action packed books and even if it's the worse of the three it's a really good read and the ending got a great payoff, the characters are as amazing as always and the setting got a great atmosphere with lot of great moments and a great mix of horror and humor.
Also, of the three is the more dark and have a lot of gruesome things, and I'm not talking about the gore here so don't say I haven't told you so. I don't usually read this type of books for the porn, but the scenes are short and to the point, good and sweet in my opinion, the best thing this have it's the plot, the characters and how fun it is, I recommended it.
The only problem it has its the second book exist, its the best of the three, but the ending of the story here have a good payoff, so its ok, also there's a lot of minor details that doesn't make this a 4 stars for me(I never give 5 unless you're at the level of I/O, Forest or Remember11), but this my own nitpicking, so please, if you enjoy funny 80 b movies plot and a lot of fun stuff to turn off your brain off, pick this book trilogy, really, you're up for a really good time.
