Dry Blood Orange Soda is one of nine flavors offered by the Dry Soda Company, the Seattle-based brainchild of Sharelle Klaus. The company's philosophy is to make "less sweet", all natural sodas that can be consumed on their own, paired with food, or mixed to make cocktails and dessert drinks. All of their sodas contain only 4 ingredients: purified carbonated water, cane sugar, natural extracts, and phosphoric acid. No high fructose corn syrup. The Blood Orange flavor has 50 calories, 14 grams carbohydrates, 14 grams sugar, and no sodium per 12-ounce (355 mL) bottle. The carbonation in Dry Sodas more closely resembles club soda or Perrier water than a traditional soft drink. They are moderately carbonated and tend to go flat quickly if left uncovered.

Dry Blood Orange tastes like a sweeter, more exotic version of Perrier with an orange twist. I compared it to Perrier with some SodaStream Orange Flavor Essence in it. The SodaStream flavor was less sophisticated than the Dry Blood Orange but about the same intensity. Fresh blood oranges have a distinct flavor, but when there is only a hint of it, as in this soda, it is difficult to distinguish. I could easily mistake the flavor for tangerine. Although Dry Blood Orange Soda may fare better as a mixer, I don't like it as much as other Dry Soda flavors. Blood oranges produce a delicious juice. So making a soda with just an essence of blood orange doesn't cut it. No one expects that vanilla, lavender, or juniper berry Dry Soda will be flavorful. But a lightly flavored blood orange soda is mundane and disappointing.

so crisp and light, with no aftertaste. The only problem is, they're pretty pricey, and all my guests love them, so a case goes fast. But they aren't readily available in my local grocery, so Amazon it is!

I found this pop for sale at our local supermarket, and decided to give it a try...I'm always on the lookout for pops without all of the unnecessary additives and colorings of the mainstream brands.

This could very well be the worst pop I've ever had in my life. There's no orange flavor in it whatsoever...it's literally like drinking tonic water. Couldn't possibly have been more disappointed. We bought a 4-pack of bottles, of which I drank a few sips out of one bottle, and my son drank a few sips out of another. The rest, including the other two bottles, just got dumped down the drain.

Perhaps this was a bad batch, but I have no intention of buying more to find out.

This beverage is a lot like Perrier water with an orange twist. I was looking for a blood orange soda, but this is more like a cocktail mixer. It is very light on flavor. It is not a bad product, just not the right product for my purposes on Halloween.
