Move over Laura Croft, I'm in love. Rayne is just awesome as she's tearing through enemies. I passed up this game several times because it looked like some lame vampire game, but I spotted a favorable review and I'm very glad I gave it a shot.
You've got a hot character, loads of enemies, and some cool puzzles like tossing bad guys. The puzzles are actually one of the more amusing aspects of the game. At one point there a giant fan blocking your way that you have to toss baddies into to damage it so you can pass and another few where you have to clog machinery with bodies to overload it and cause explosions.
Another blessing is you have certain visions like Rage to avoid taking damage, Speed to move around in Bullet Time like Max Payne, and Aura to let you see those troubling straggler enemies you have to find and kill to progress; Aura is also incredibly useful because it will paint bars you can climb/swing on in glowing yellow and even tag your next objective with an icon. You can avoid running around maps for hours trying to find what think you have to pull down, attack, climb to, etc. Very freaking cool!
The game seems satisfactorily long for a game of this type. I haven't finished it yet but I've been at it for quite a while. The story is a little on the weak side, vampires trying to create a cloud so they can move around in daylight. Pretty much a bad B movie type plot.
The only things I will say are disappointing in the game are
1) You don't wear that dress you start out in after the first hour or so, though apparently if you beat the game you can unlock some extra costumes, one of which is danged hot. If you're at all into cartoon chicks, this game will delight you.
2) The game can often be too easy or get a little repetitive. Early enemies are easily thwarted, while later enemies can be a real pain to kill.
3) The tower level sucks (and in a bad way) with tight areas that confuse the camera, poles that you can jump/swing on being right next to stuff you can't use, and overall it just seems the developers ran out of time/ideas on that one. At least it's not a huge portion of the game.
Overall this is a really solid game and for the price you can get it today it's a definite no brainer.
