I didn't like the plot to this game nearly as much as I did the first. Much of the games story, characters and enemies just seemed poorly put together. Granted it was better than having no firearms at all, but another thing I didn't care for was the carpathian dragon handguns. Would've been much better if Rayne was designed to use more conventional firearms/weapons dropped from enemies prior to the first game. Aside from that I will say the game play and graphics were much better. What made this game as good as it was is the fact one can never get tired of watching Raynes sexy body and the way she moves.

Move over Laura Croft, I'm in love. Rayne is just awesome as she's tearing through enemies. I passed up this game several times because it looked like some lame vampire game, but I spotted a favorable review and I'm very glad I gave it a shot.

You've got a hot character, loads of enemies, and some cool puzzles like tossing bad guys. The puzzles are actually one of the more amusing aspects of the game. At one point there a giant fan blocking your way that you have to toss baddies into to damage it so you can pass and another few where you have to clog machinery with bodies to overload it and cause explosions.

Another blessing is you have certain visions like Rage to avoid taking damage, Speed to move around in Bullet Time like Max Payne, and Aura to let you see those troubling straggler enemies you have to find and kill to progress; Aura is also incredibly useful because it will paint bars you can climb/swing on in glowing yellow and even tag your next objective with an icon. You can avoid running around maps for hours trying to find what think you have to pull down, attack, climb to, etc. Very freaking cool!

The game seems satisfactorily long for a game of this type. I haven't finished it yet but I've been at it for quite a while. The story is a little on the weak side, vampires trying to create a cloud so they can move around in daylight. Pretty much a bad B movie type plot.

The only things I will say are disappointing in the game are

1) You don't wear that dress you start out in after the first hour or so, though apparently if you beat the game you can unlock some extra costumes, one of which is danged hot. If you're at all into cartoon chicks, this game will delight you.

2) The game can often be too easy or get a little repetitive. Early enemies are easily thwarted, while later enemies can be a real pain to kill.

3) The tower level sucks (and in a bad way) with tight areas that confuse the camera, poles that you can jump/swing on being right next to stuff you can't use, and overall it just seems the developers ran out of time/ideas on that one. At least it's not a huge portion of the game.

Overall this is a really solid game and for the price you can get it today it's a definite no brainer.

I was a big fan of the original Bloodrayne when it became somewhat of a sleeper hit a few years back.

Now Bloodrayne 2 is definitely better than the first, but it didnt have that special something as the first game did.

This game starts out slow and boring. Raynes moves are severely limited at the games start. But you slowly begin to gain new abilities and the game becomes a whole lot more fun.

The special abilities and fatalities are just so over the top its great. Over the top fun like a Kill Bill sort of way.

But there are some things i wasnt too pleased about. The first games low point were its 'jumping puzzles' and this games weak point was the same. Rayne many vertical and horizontal pole jumps were annoying and repititive. It sucks to climb 500 feet in a tower than miss one jump and have to climb all the way up again. 3D platforming is made fun in some games but Bloodrayne isnt one of them.

And whats the deal with the Blood Guns? Sure there are rocket launchers and shotguns, etc, but why do they have to run on 'blood?' Uzis, shotguns, and rpgs are more fun than Blood Stream, Blood Spray, and Blood Bomb. Lame.

Still, the game is a joy to play and the killing puzzles were handled awesome. Like throwing a baddie into a newspaper print machine, thus making it print red soaked newspapers, and having it blow up. Or pulling a truck off a cliff to squash a baddie while simultaneously breaking open a locked gate. Genius.

If you shop around you can find this game for a very reasonable price. And in the end its worth every penny for its gory over the top action.

I love this game! I lost my original copy years ago, and decided to buy it again it here. There were no scratches on the copy, and the game runs perfectly.
