USA Today bestselling, Amazon All-Star author Barbara Devlin was born a storyteller, but it was a weeklong vacation to Bethany Beach, DE that forever changed her life. The little house her parents rented had a collection of books by Kathleen Woodiwiss, which exposed Barbara to the world of romance, and Shanna remains a personal favorite. Barbara writes heartfelt historical romances that feature not so perfect heroes who may know how to seduce a woman but know nothing of marriage. And she prefers feisty but smart heroines who sometimes save the hero, before they find their happily ever after. Barbara is a disabled-in-the-line-of-duty retired police officer, and she earned an MA in English and continued a course of study for a Doctorate in Literature and Rhetoric. She happily considered herself an exceedingly eccentric English professor, until success in Indie publishing lured her into writing, full-time, featuring her fictional knighthood, the Brethren of the Coast.
A daring brotherhood, where honor among thieves reigns supreme, and crushing their enemies is a thrilling pastime.

I honestly can't think of one character in this entire story that was at all endearing. Rose would be the only one but her naïveté just made her come off as plain stupid more often that not. Other than her though, Turner and his entire ship's crew, as well as Rose's mother and brother never came off as even a little likable. Overall I just thought this book was silly and rather unromantic truth be told. I don't for even a minute think these two people will live happily ever after, and frankly I just don't really care. I'm honestly shocked by all the rave reviews for this story, and in no way do I think it's worthy of five stars. I'm sorry to say it, but this book was not good and I would not recommend it...
Ages: Rose (18) Turner (29)
Setting: 1680, Jamaica (Caribbean) & Carolina Province (Colonies)
Pages & Kindle Locations: The story contained 81 pages and 1149 kindle locations.
Her trunk returned, Rose leaves, Turner follows, introductions are made and she negotiates passage back to Charles Town for herself, her mother and her brother. Turner agrees for three reasons, he needs the money, the possibility of Spanish galleons and he wants her
He convinces his crew to pretend to be merchants and then sets his plan to seduce her into motion. But Rose is much more than he expected and when she learns the truth, even the love she has for him may not be enough for a HEA.
This was a great novella, well written and fast moving story with pirates, a heroine who is a shrewd negotiator, a lusty sea captain, sea battles, steamy love scenes, treasure and a great HEA complete with an epilogue! This is the sixth book in the Pirates of Britannia series, but can easily be read as a stand alone title.
The Blood Reaver isn't known for being good or charitable. So when he steps in to help young Rose who is trying to retrieve her stolen trunk, he is not doing it out of the goodness of his heart. He wants Rose and he aims to have her. He just ever expected to grow to enjoy her company and want to keep her for his own when their journey together comes to an end.
Although not as steamy as previous Devlin books, The Blood Reaver was subtle in its sensuality. It was an unexpected and pleasant change typically found in Devlin's books. I have come to expect many things from Ms Devlin. Among those is a steamy story with handsome rogues and headstrong women. Yet again she did not disappoint. Her knowledge of historical fact and terminology make every moment reading her books a pleasure.
