No sex scenes, though it hints at one. There is cussing and there is a lot of protective services, misting, and head separating. Enjoy!
You went from being a kick-ass, capable, interesting character to a worthless, predictable dummy.
The first book in this series was genuinely enjoyable, and even a bit different in terms of vampire fiction. That quickly changed during the second book and, foolishly, I bought this one hoping things would improve. They don't.
Lissa becomes an obedient lapdog to sexist, condescending, Neanderthal men. Swallowing use and abuse again and again and dismissing some truly horrifying behavior like it's nothing. Honestly, why are huge amounts of jealousy and possessiveness in male love interests such an attractive quality to so many female authors?
As much as I liked the first book, I just don't think I can take Lissa making another batch of cookies for anyone else.
BLOOD SENSE is actually the third book in this enjoyable series and I do have to say that the Ms. Suttle's writing skills tend to improve ever book. The pacing was right on and well I couldn't set the book aside until the very last word. The characters are ones that grow on you and become as old friends.
I did find a couple content errors in the book however they didn't detract from my enjoyment in the least. Also this series is more like a serial. To get the most of the stories, you have to read the books in order. I did mark the book down slightly for this fact as I really do feel that each book in a series should stand on its own merit.
I do recommend BLOOD SENSE to any readers that enjoy vampires and urban fantasy. There are no explicit sex scenes in this book so it is suitable for all adult readers.
I rate this book a 3.9.
***I purchased this book thru Amazon.
YES: Am I glad that I PAID for the book?
YES: Was there good and realistic CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?
YES: Was the PLOT logical and/or interesting?
YES: Would I buy the AUDIOBOOK or REREAD the story because I enjoyed it so much?
I actually bought the audio of the book and will say the performance was "ok", but I loved the flow and character development of this book so much that I continued on to and finished books 2 & 3 within three days.
This is the book that I would probably write if I were to ask myself "what would I do if I woke up one day as a vampire and my sire wanted to kill me."
This book is not as amazingly awesome by itself as the others in the series, but it is still good. I'm not a "professional" reviewer by any means, nor am I one that will give out a lot of information. But I do have to say that all of Connie Suttle's books, so far, are fantastic and when you read the series in order, they are even better! It is amazing to see the growth of the writer and the characters from the start to currently. Love the books, love the author, and love the characters! And for those that are put off by others' comments, just give the series a try, it might just make sense if you do.
