An up and coming star in the police force following family footsteps should demonstrate more skill and knowledge - at least acting like an officer. The "no one knows vampires exist" angle is a real weakness and dragging the series (like many of its predecessors) down. There are 2000 vampires in her city, each has 5 "blood harem" - thats 10,000 humans with direct interaction with vampires - now there are vampire clubs? These aspects just damage the believe-ability of the world the author has worked so hard to create. These books are also very short.
Last comment - I have read book 3 and its a HUGE step down - vampire high school
Though I love Blood and Thunder, Blood Vice Book 2 even more than Blood Vice, Book 1-- you should read the first book in the journey in order to appreciate Detective Jenna Skye's rough transition into vamphood.
Vamps, half vamps, werewolves and humans..OH MY!!!.
This series excites me, amuses me and enthralled me.
Who would have known how the stories unfold and the plot thickens.
I am, happily, of to book 3. Bye for now.
