About the Author

William J. Atkins wrote his first full-length novel after thirty years as an international financial executive. His life experiences in international sales and marketing exposed him to the cultural cross currents that feed the characters and places in his book. He is a graduate of Hobart College, where he was received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1975. He also studied Middle Eastern history at Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland. In 1973, he was evacuated from Eilat, Israel, days before the beginning of the Yom Kippur War between Israel and Egypt. He fled to a kibbutz in Beersheba, where he was educated first hand about Israel's conflict with the Arab world. William and his wife Betsy split time between homes in Indiana, the Bahamas, and Canada. They are parents of three wonderful children and grandparents to one beautiful granddaughter. William is an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who also enjoys kayaking, cycling, running, and hiking.

What an amazing book! Politics, DNA research, and religious eccentricity weave their way through this introspective espionage tale - that's wrapped in a love story, and highly psychological. The protagonist, Trey, goes on a journey that takes him miles away from his home and light years out of his comfort zone, as he comes to meet long-lost family members with shady pasts and even shadier plans for the future. Trey finds himself in the middle of something much bigger than anything he could have imagined when he set out on his quest for self-discovery. With unexpected twists and intriguing sub-plots, Blood of Zealots will keep any reader aching for more.

In todays global environment, where we are all becoming homogenized together, this book helps us all take a look to our original beginnings. Is it all in our DNA?? Is it predestined?? Intrigue grips us through continents and cultures, each rationalizing their own preDestination, while ultimately it all fits in to one family. Kohan, Cohen or Cowens. Each side~ government, terrorist, idealist..... This first literary stab by William Atkins is Easy to Read ~ Hard to Put Down ~ and Ends unexpectedly with you aching for more. The Blood of Zealots

It is amazing how so many puzzle pieces play out in this debut novel from Atkins. The story does not disappoint and I find myself asking, "What's next?!"

I have grown deeply attached to several of the characters and subplots. I sincerely hope this is the start of an entire series.

This book is the perfect combination of science, politics, and action surrounding one man's journey to find a place he belongs.

Any good novel needs compelling characters. Both hero and villain in this first novel qualify, and are ably supported by a varied cast of secondary characters and historical figures.Trey Cowens, a succesful New York banker orphaned at an early age,is using DNA information to trace his ancestry. The scientist who deploys this technology for Trey,Ari Kohen, intends to use his skills for far less innocent purposes.Trey and Ari become entwined in a double helix of their own,in a fast-paced tale which involves live and dead terrorists/freedom fighters in Ireland and the Middle East.Throw in a hot romance and you have a classic thriller, but this novel addresses some other classic issues-nature vs nurture, identity and destiny in the light of modern science.
