HELLYEAH's Fourth Album, Blood for Blood, is their strongest offering to date. Unlike their other albums, you really hear some of the influence of the members' prior bands on this record. Several of the songs have a strong Nothingface vibe, like "Soul Killer" and "Black December", where Tom Maxwell plays chugging start-stop riffs and quirky open chords, while "Moth" sounds a lot like an old Mudvayne tune -- think of "World So Cold".

This record is really heavy at times, with "Say When" the heaviest of all. But the real highlights on this record are the slower songs, which are moody and lyrically strong. Lyrically, "Hush" may be one of their best ever. Possibly the most notable feature of this album is the fact that HELLYEAH dropped a lot of the cheesy lyrics about partying, beer, and cowboys, and took a more serious approach. Sure, this record isn't L.D.50 or Vulgar Display of Power, but it is indeed a strong offering from a band who seem to finally be finding their groove.

Iv'e been a fan of Hellyeah since their very first self-titled album. Iv'e also found that each album that they've released had gotten better and better than the last. This is absolutely no exception. This one is darker and heavier than any of the previous 3 albums, and it's truly a change for the better.

Every element of the members' previous bands absolutely shine more than ever. You hear Mudvayne, Pantera, Nothingface and Bloodsimple elements very clearly in certain songs, most notably in Moth (Mudvayne), Say When (Pantera), and Hush (Nothingface). The clear sounding bass in each track bellows Bloodsimple as well (Black December, especially). My favorite track off the album would have to be Demons In The Dirt, it is pure aggression.

Overall, i think that everyone should absolutely give this album a chance, ESPECIALLY people who were disappointed by Hellyeah's previous albums. It's definitely worth one last shot.

If you are a Mudvayne fan you will probably enjoy this stuff. The music is heavy and his vocal range is everything you expect to hear from Chad. It took 3 or 4 times to listening to the whole album to let it sink in. Not many tracks really reached out and grabbed me at first, but if it marinates in your brain for a while, you may find the enjoyment I have found. Rock On!

HellYeah has become one of my favorite bands. I saw them live a couple months ago, for the second time and got to meet them afterwards at the restaurant attached to the venue. They were very nice, and let us take pictures with them. There's nothing worse than loving a band and when you finally meet them, they disappoint because their heads have gotten so big that they forget who is helping them get where they are, which is the fans! But that's not the case with HellYeah! This CD has so many good songs that I could listen to it over and over....Tom Maxwell, guitarist told me that they are currently working on some awesome new material, so stay tuned. He told me that he appreciates us, and thanked us for coming to see them play. gave lots of hugs!!! Chad Gray, the vocalist is also a super cool awesome guy. Very nice and despite being tired from just jamming out, he was still super nice and talkative. Greg Tribbett, guitarist was also super nice, with a great sense of humor. (Love the long dreads!!) I didn't get to meet Vinnie Paul because he was held back with some fans, but that's ok. The other guys proved to me that they are not only super talented, but a class act. This CD is a reflection of the awesome talent.

Hellyeah presents an outstanding melodic metal album in Blood for Blood (not death metal or anything that heavy), heavy guitars, controlled screams, along with plenty of outstanding melodic vocals and melodies that show the creativity of Chad Gray and Hellyeah.

When a band reaches a certain level of success, they’re no longer “cool” and are now “sell outs”. It’s part of associating with the underground and wanting to stay there. Looking beyond that simple way of thinking and listening to the content of the music itself, Chad Gray’s voice is incredibly unique with a grit and power unlike anything I’ve heard. His singing voice is part of that quality, able to sustain melodic notes with much skill that really rounds out his performance.

With that out of the way, Hellyeah’s Blood for Blood is an incredible album filled with some of the best music Chad Gray has ever produced and performed, thanks to some incredibly infectious melodies, as in Black December, Moth, Gift, and pretty much every single song on this amazing album.

I started listening to Hellyeah awhile ago and really enjoy their music. I am especially a fan of Chad's vocal style and this was with no previous Mudvayne experience. I am really into this latest album and really can't say there is one track on here I don't love. My favorite song on the album is Hush (both versions). But this is really the guys putting out their finest sound to date. I've definitely escalated Hellyeah to one of my top bands and highly recommend them.

This is the best Hell Yeah album to date, they are finally getting into their groove with what they are dong. Not a bad song on this one. It's an album you will find yourself going back to over and over. if that doesn't say it all, I don't know what else to tell you here.
