An excellent cap to the trilogy

There is nothing like the culmination of a trilogy. As a reader you are always wondering if things will end as you expect them to end, or will there be a twist at the end that will shock you. In Bloodfeud, the final book of the Scarlet Star Trilogy, the author (Ben Galley) does a good job of managing the readers expectations while making sure there are some surprises at the end of the book.

The location is this book switches to London and only London where Tonmerion begins to execute his plan for revenge against Dizali. We see a lot of growth in both Tonmerion and his partner in crime Calliade as they need to deal with the obstacles they face in getting their revenge.

The twists at the end are good and they were both things I did not expect and in different ways.

I greatly enjoyed this book and although the author was kind enough to give me a review copy of Bloodfeud I went ahead and bought a copy on my own (like I have done with all of his books) because I believe you need to support your independent book authors.

I loved this series! It was so different from his EMANESKA SERIES, but he did a fantastic job writing and developing the characters that I was sad to see it end. The ending was full of surprises and one I did not see coming. I would highly recommend this and any of Ben's books you will not be disappointed.

Bloodfeud was a spectacular finish to a simply amazing series and there is not one thing I would have changed. It was faster paced, more action-packed and more tension-filled since the stakes were raised and there was a sense of imminence about it. All the loose ends were tied up, and I like the open-ended epilogue which I’m hoping means there will be some novellas.

If you haven’t read this mash-up of western/urban fantasy and supernatural, with a really cool magick system called bloodrushing, fae creatures who veer on the evil side and a totally different take on vampires and other familiar creatures, a what are you waiting for? Now is the perfect time to start with all 3 books having been released. Go read them :) I highly recommend this series to persons who are tired of the cookie cutter fantasy and are willing to step out of the box.

Ben Galley's Scarlet Star trilogy is one of the most original ones I've read in the past few years. The historical worldbuilding literally transports you back in time with a dash of fantasy that makes it all the more exciting. I was a bit worried with this third book as it left the setting of the two previous ones – the American Frontier and the midlands – for an "Old Continent" city, London.
However, the darker atmosphere (well reflected on the cover, and somewhat reminiscent of Tim Burton's 'Sweeney Todd') makes the story even more thrilling, and the characters all en up fitting into it quite well.
I always have a worry as well, when finishing the last book in a trilogy, that the end will be either rushed or unoriginal. Let's say this time it's been as original and entertaining as the rest of the story, if not more.
And the best news is, apparently, "Tonmerion will return". I can't wait for that.

Great satisfying end to a thoroughly enjoyable trilogy. I'm a fan of "grittier" fantasy from the likes of Joe Abercrombie and, of course, George RR Martin, and this series certainly hit the right notes for me. The world it's set in is familiar enough, whilst being a bit removed from our own, that it makes it enjoyable identifying the real world settings those in the Scarlet Star world are closely based on.

Although this trilogy is self contained and wrapped up nicely, I was pleased to see at the end that Tonmerion Hawk and his companions are, hopefully soon, going to return. I feel there's many more adventures possible in their world.
