I had owned these books for years, even before the Author republished these, I had it when they're still free, and just freshly self-pub, at the time. I regret not reading them before now. But, never to late to start.
Right here, I will say, this is a spoil-free review, and I normally don't write these, but for this series so far, I'm doing it in the hopes that more people take the time to read this series, and hopefully, the Author reading my pleas below, will continue writing about this awesome, and fascinating family/characters. There's so much she could do with these characters....definitely a plea here. Lol.
I'm normally not a big fan of YA genre, but I loved this Author's " Thoughtless" series, and those books are still one of my fave reads EVER, so I decided to finally read this series. I'm glad I did it, and will continue to do it.
What a surprise treat here on 2nd book, as Teren, a truly beautiful character, in this book, surprised me more, because even though he's too young, he had tough choices to make, and his complex nature, of being Vampire, but trying to keep his humanity, are truly adorable. Even his hopeful optimism regarding "Hot Ben" accepting him as a Vampire, was refreshing. He never gives up on Emma, or the babies, or his family and Friend, Ben. It also showed he's maturing, thru his choices. love Teren & Emma, and his love for his family. Emma is also more mature in this book. She also makes tough choices, and is also maturing, making her priorities more realistic, and with whole family support, they're all great characters.
This book, had a more mature feel to it, and made it even more interesting. To me, at least.
Bringing the plot to a more mature audience, with more mature content, for this audience, the added character maturity, self-doubts, intensity, and well written, and classy sexy scenes, also added an extra realistic view, on a couple that's so in love, and will do anything for each other, Literally. The whole family plot, was also more realistic, if you're Vampires..
In keeping with more mature views, more realistic to their nature, since they ARE Vampires, I believe, without those things, it wouldn't have been as good, without adding more depth to the story. Of course, there are some little flaws, regarding realistic Vampire nature, but still...a Well done job!
I think its the perfect blend of classy, sexy, interesting, and for those looking for romance, definitely uber romantic, and full of angst. I wished there were even more Vampiric behavior. Lol!
Now, I'm eager to read the third one, and hopefully the Author will continue to write to a more mature audience, instead of YA only, at least when it comes to this series.
Maybe Including a "spin off" off of this trilogy, where she'd write more stories on the other main characters, and one specifically, my favorite, Halina. The PURE BLOOD Vampire, that occasionally enjoys her true nature, and in a realistic Vamp genre, that's perfect!
To me, Halina, is the only TRUE self regarding her nature...at least, Halina doesn't hide her true nature, even to her family, and that makes her character, to me at least, so interesting, and full of potential as a new story...and Gabriel, wow! A new character, that left me wanting to know everything about his life, and him. He's so interesting, and such a great match for Halina's character! I would love to read a story of both of them together.
Hopefully, expanding on their stories, and exploring their characters more in-depth, and of course, also the others in the series, would be a great read.
Also, exploring more stories, like "Hot Ben" & Tracey's, on maybe being also converted? or her sister Ashley? They should all have their own stories too. That'd be so interesting to read. I LOVED this Author's "Thoughtless" series, and enjoy her very descriptive writing...I know some people don't appreciate so much descriptions, but I find it refreshing and more realistic, reading so much descriptions...I'm a sucker for those. I can "see" whole book thru those descriptions...I love her storytelling, and would read anything by her, specially if it's about this whole group of characters! STEPHENS, PLEASE CONTINUE ON THIS SERIES!
So, yes, to me, it's a 5 star reading.
If you love Vampires (which I do), love PR genre, a great, descriptive, well written story, full of romance, angst, sexy bits, and a good plot? Then, these are for you. If you love books that get even better as you keep reading, love great characters that you'll want more of it, then this series is for you!
Excellent work. I would def recommend to others!
Some quotes I loved:
“A sexy, baby daddy corpse. ”
“After they are born, I will drain you until you pass out, but not right now, okay? ”
“ I would say I love you too, but I think I`ve gone too far past that, so I`ll just say... ” “you make eternity something to look forward to. ”
