How about launching a cruise for romance writers? And spending your time on board sucking face with the man of your dreams?
Only, what if hot doc was older than you? A LOT older than you. More than four hundred years older. And he wanted to do more than suck face. What if he wanted to…turn you?
This is just one of the obstacles Mona Rossi faces when she takes off on a bloody good cruise around the Mediterranean. The Romanza is an incredible ship, a luxury water palace, but it's chock full of sex-obsessed romance writers and studly cover models who need to be entertained. Mona's publisher is also on board, and about to marry a man she does not know is heavily fanged. Oh, and the ship's manifest includes deadly vampire hunters.
So there's that.
Yes, as it turns out, Mona's got problems. Her life is in danger. Her heart is in danger. And her career needs a jumpstart—if she can survive long enough to make that happen.
What a fun trip Diana Rubino takes us on! Her understanding of world history and geography shine through as we cruise with Mona, her vamp love Fausto Silvius, and a full roster of other zany characters. Along the way, Rubino pokes fun at authors (Who knew our patron saint was Saint Paul?), reality television, pink ink, journalists and other lunatic extremists.
I ventured outside my usual genres with A Bloody Good Cruise. What a nice surprise. I laughed all the way through, starting with this line from Fausto: "All the blood's drained from your face. And not in a good way."
Fausto is actually a centuries old vampire, and he is currently being stalked by some of the world’s most sinister vampire hunters. It doesn't help that these hunters have the blessing, plus the financial backing, of the Roman Catholic Church. Tess knows nothing about any of this, but she certainly will soon. She is dating Fausto's friend Quintus; also a vampire. Together, Fausto and Quintus beseeched Mona to break the news to Tess. They felt that it would be easier for Tess to hear this earth shattering news from a trusted and beloved friend.
Around the time that Mona is deciding on the best way to tell Tess, Faust arrives on deck; looking like a homeless man from some back alley. To protect himself from the ever watchful eyes of the hunters, he must always wear guises to protect his true identity. This is especially needed, now more than ever, since most of his family was recently murdered at the hands of these hunters. Mere moments after Fausto’s arrival, the luxury cruise liner departures, and what follows in “A Bloody Good Cruise” is a romantic adventure that encompasses the ship as well as various parts of Italy.
I’m not going to provide any more of the book’s specifics. (If it sounds interesting, may I suggest you grab your own copy). I will however state, that within “A Bloody Good Cruise,” Rubino has taken several genres: romance, adventure, fantasy and paranormal, and has skilfully combined them into an interesting story. Consequently, “A Bloody Good Cruise” turned out to be a very fun read. Rubino has also provided her readers with a different spin on vampires versus the current, "regular" vampire legend; which I appreciated.
In summary, “A Bloody Good Cruise” was a fun and fast paced tale. And, most likely a “must read” for fans of the romance adventure genre.

In A Bloody Good Cruise, Author Diana Rubino takes us on a cruise ship filled with writers. Mona, their hostess and planner uses the cruise as a way to bring writers together as well as promote her own books. Ok, she does have another motive and that is to be close to the love of her life, Fausto Silvius, who is the cruise ship's doctor and yes he is a vampire. But there is danger in paradise. That danger comes in the form of those who are known as the "Vampire Ball Busters." They believe all vampires are bad and are devoted to eradicating them. But what happens when one of the Ball Busters ends up being "turned?" I'll not tell. You'll have to read the book to find out.
Diana Rubino has done it again. She has taken a topic that most view as horror, turned it into humor and written another book. Oh yeah, she has thrown in some really heated sex along the way. I have to admit, I did enjoyed reading A Bloody Good Cruise, humor, sex and all.
