4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 756 ratings

One man can destroy a city. One man can save it.

Antonovka-15 is a Russian nuclear weapons storage facility 15 miles from the Ukraine border. When an Alt-Right Ukrainian Special Forces unit – the Vampir Brigade - breaks in and steals an H-Bomb, Breed is tasked with finding it before it can be detonated.

Breed and the CIA’s Anya Stein follow the bomb on a journey through war-torn Ukraine and on to Brussels. Are the Vampirs planning to destroy NATO HQ and the European Commission?

Negative on that – their real plan is even more horrifying.

After surviving multiple attacks by the Vampirs, Breed and Stein find the bomb has been shipped to New York. The Vampirs threaten to incinerate the city if the United States does not commit ground troops to fight Russia.

With the help of Ellie, a young homeless girl, Breed and Stein fight the Vampirs through black 19th century tunnels 30 stories below the streets of modern Manhattan. Ellie leads Breed to the bomb - and a terrifying climax with the lives of eight million innocents hanging in the balance.

Blowback — Book Ten in the stunning Breed action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Jason Kasper, Jack Carr, and Lee Child.

Breed just keeps on getting more badass with each new title. He’s a fictional hero, but his abilities are not exaggerated. T-1 Operations are all lead by men like him. All thumbs up. Bravo!

This one was a lot slower than previous books in this series. That's why I only gave it 4 stars.

Since Breed is the main character, you know there’s going to be a lot of ammunition spent throughout the book. This time, though, Stein is back in a more involved way. Added to that, a new character who is quite intriguing is introduced. I don’t know if this person will reappear in a future book, but I’m hoping that is the case as the first appearance added another layer to Breed and the story.

This book was so fun to read, I had to slow read it a bit…
But when the action really got going, I couldn’t help myself and had to devour it to the finish.
Have to say that I really enjoy the author’s writing style with the quick wit, and subtle nuances.
If you are looking for a great series to jump into next—Do yourself a favor, start at the beginning and enjoy the ride!

This was another fun read based on current events and possible scenarios. Non stop action and travels that keep you guessing. The characters are realistic and not simple.

A well written, military thriller with fascinating characters and edge of your seat action. Breed is an interesting hero and the action is almost non stop. I'm not much into the detailed descriptions of all the weaponry but if that is your interest, this is the book for you. This is the 10th book in the series. I have not read the previous books but it did not hinder my enjoyment of this one. It can easily be read as a stand alone. Strongly recommended

I’m really into this genre of thrillers and Cameron Curtis’ Breed character never disappoints. Intriguing how he worked New York’s underground transportation system into this story. Very curious if his new Ellie character will be woven into future Breed installments. Hope so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spoiler Alert! – But you’ll read the book anyway.

Blowback is that brilliant. It’s hard to review because it works on so many levels. Part war story, part road-trip, part Special Forces thriller. The story begins with the theft of a nuclear warhead from a Russian armory next to the Ukraine border. Breed and Stein are asked to recover the bomb. Their hero’s journey takes them across war-torn Ukraine. From the battlefield, to the glitzy hotels and nightclubs of Kiev, to Poland, Brussels, and finally New York.

But not just modern New York! The chase takes them to Victorian tunnels far below the streets, where the terrorists have hidden the bomb. Guided by Ellie, a homeless teenager who lives underground, they track the bomb to a deadly showdown at the most iconic symbol of freedom – the Statue of Liberty.

Blowback shows the reader the horror of war. A well-researched, balanced account, it shows both sides fighting to defend what they believe in. The reader’s treated to understated, smoldering romance. And the propulsive plot delivers all the brutal action a thriller reader could ever ask for.

What a fantastic set of books. I’ve just finished book 10 I could not put them down. Stein and Breed are something else. Puts Reacher to shame. All books had a twist to tell. Brilliant story teller.
