However, the CD was not said sound track It was a collection of songs from various sources.
The first 7 songs, what used to be Side One when records were vinyl, are the pick of the album. The second half is more novelty-oriented. All the way through Elvis is in excellent voice and the arrangements are appropriate, with lots of steel guitar as you might expect.
There are 8 bonus tracks, mostly alternate versions, which are OK but not essential listening. They are added to the end of the original 14 track album, so if they don't appeal to you it's easy to cut it off there.
For the price, a great deal for any lovers of Elvis in his MOR style.
the title song, "Moonlight Swim," "Hawaiian Sunset" and "Island of Love" evoke images of beautiful sunsets and peaceful blue seas, and the more lively numbers, such as "Almost Always True" and "Steppin' Out of Line" are carefree and fun, which is another aspect of Hawaii.
Hearing the great voice reminds us of why Elvis is still king, even after all these years. And the added songs at the end, which are repeats of earlier songs, with a few off the cuff remarks by Elvis, give us a peak into the spontaneity and ease with which he worked.
This is music to listen to after a difficult day in the "asphalt jungle," music which helps us relax and enjoy and
forget the stresses and strains of modern society, at least for awhile!
