The story follows Vur a human "blue mage" (a mage that gains abilities by surviving having said ability used on them) that is stolen and imprinted on by a dragon because humans stole her egg. Ridiculous already right? Vur is a total OP protagonist with zero common sense and the ability to circularly reason out anything, but what else should one expect from a child that is raised by and is absolutely convinced that he is a dragon? He is also one of my favorite characters I have come across in my almost 900 book kindle library.
This book is litRPG although not what one expects from a litRPG it's more like a regular fantasy novel with litRPG elements thrown in for convenience. Honestly I think the litRPG elements in this book felt a little out of place because without the references to leveling (which were totally unnecessary to the plot) this would not be a litRPG. There were a fair few missing words in places as well but that is the only significant editing mistake I found consistently and it was never sever enough to detract from the reading experience.
Overall this book was an easy read that left me feeling great and wanting the next book yesterday, I imagine I will reread this one a few times before the next installment comes out. I would recommend this one to anybody that is looking for something light and fun with characters that are impossible not to like.
This book is great but don't read it with others around.
Its bad when you are in public or at home and start laughing while reading and everyone looks at you and there is no way to describe what you are laughing at.
Last time I laughed this hard was listening to a Bill Cosby record back in 1981. And this is a book.
Tone deaf skeletons. Hilarious.
Its a great read and I really hope there is more to come.
If you need a good read and an something to tickle your funny bone (no pun intended) this is it.
I sure am.
Some of my favorite characters are the skeletons.
More importantly, it's filled with very subtle humor that just keeps going and going.
I'm sure it's not for everyone and if you're the kind of person that doesn't get it when people are making subtle jokes or use sarcasm then you are probably not going to like it. Also, don't expect a litrpg progression. The main character starts out overpowered and stays that way. But that's not the point.
For those of us that like the humor and interactions between the rulers and kingdoms, this book was a breath of fresh air with a unique take on things.
The only reason I deducted a star is I ran into one of my pet peeves within the first couple of paragraphs : the use of modern slang by a non-human in a different world. Some dragons are talking about another dragon and call him "whipped". If the author modified it to fit the setting, I would have been happier (e.g. "tail whipped"). There were a couple of other instances of something similar in the book but as I said, they're my personal pet peeves, so I think most people wouldn't care.
