Carol and Jake have been in love forever but, Carol needs to hear the words of love and Jake get tongue tied and can't express himself (he was taught to show love by protecting and doing things for those he loves) Jake wanted to marry right out of high school but Carol wanted college and he got upset because she left him, and then when Carol was back taking care of her father they got close again but she left to help her brother and he got upset again and did not try to understand. They have not spoken for a long while and at a dance Jake is fuming while watching her dance with other men. He sees a sleazeball trying to talk to Katie Tanner (Logan's daughter) and he goes and protects her. He went outside to get away and Carol came out and then the same sleazeball tried to make advances which she refused and he slapped her Jake went to her rescue and then the fun begins. The sleazeball is not taking no for an answer so now we have broken bones, stalking, cattle rustling, another kidnapping, health problems and a love intervention, everyone needs to hop on this roller coaster and see what happens in the end
One of the things I love about this series is it shows how a small town will really come together and protect their own, even if you have been gone for awhile
In this book you find out that Carol has been half way in love with Jake for years but she just wanted to go to college and make something of herself before she married and had a family. Jake did not want to wait and wanted a wife to cook and clean for him. He did not know the real meaning of love till the second time Carol walked out on him to help her brother and even then he still did not get it all. He did not realize what it was he wanted till he got hurt and Carol step up to take care of him that he finally got it but due to the way he was raised he did not know how to say it.
Will he lose Carol again or can he learn to giver what it is she needs. What will be the one thing that makes him see the light? Will it be to late when he figures it out?
I think this is a must read and does not have to be read with the first book but it helps.
This was even better than the first book, which I thought was fabulous. I love the way the Ms. Scott weaves her characters from the first book into this book, without losing focus on the two main characters in this book. I also love the way the whole town comes together to protect their own, in a time of crisis. I love the mystery, the suspense, the funny banter that goes on throughout the whole book, and the sweet romance----which by the way--- is very sensual, but without it coming off as a porn flick. In most cases; this author takes you right to the point where you know it's going to happen, but let's the reader use their own imaginations for the rest.
I had trouble trying to figure out the order of these books in the series, so here they are.....
#1- Blame it on Texas...Logan Tanner & Megan Flynn
#2- Blue Moon Over Texas....Carol Logan & Jake Reilly
#3- Bluest Eyes In Texas....Cooper Saunders & Nancy Phillips
#4- Beneath The Texas Star....Nick Jackson & Jean Sutherland
#5- Between Lonesome & Texas...Blake Kaufman & Mandy Wagner
#6- Behind The Texas Badge...Shelby Campbell & Tommy Bell
#7- What A Cowgirl Wants...A novella about Blake and Mandy.
I am so in love with this series! I would highly recommend this book, as well as this series, to everyone.
