If you think solar panels and EVs are going to save our planet from the ravages of global warming, I hope you’ll read this book; I wrote it with you in mind. You probably won't like the conclusions any more than I do, but you’ll come away with a better understanding of the challenge confronting us. All I ask is this: "Please don’t shoot the messenger."
This is not a “doomsday” book. Global warming will NOT write the final chapter in the history of man, but over the course of this century it will totally upend life as we’ve known it in the fossil fuel era. This book is a
CALL TO ACTION with insights related to what we're doing now to address global warming and, importantly, what more we need to do. If we want to stop “slow roasting” our planet, we’ll have to repower all of humanity’s energy engine with carbon-free resources. It’s that simple . . . and it’s that hard.
This book shines a light on the multi-dimensional nature of the issue, the magnitude of the challenge, the limited arsenal of technologies we have to combat the core problem and the obstacles we’ll face. Working through each of the issues, I identify 15 “myths” about global warming (many of which you may believe) ultimately arriving at the uncomfortable, but unassailable conclusion: we’re not going to “beat” global warming. As stark and as unsettling as this reality may be, embracing it opens the door to policies and options, rejected up until now, which could actually lessen the impact of global warming on future generations.
I hope this book attracts readers from the most cynical global warming skeptics to the most ardent environmental activists. Wherever you are on that spectrum, thank you for considering this offering. If you’re planning to be around for a few more years, or have loved ones who will be, this book will help you understand how that future will unfold.
"Knowledge is power,” denial is not a strategy, and complacency is not an option.

Dr. Ducat's book lays out the many myths, reality and science behind climate change. A thought provoking book with an unsettling message. Yet it inspires actions we can take to mitigate the impact on future generations. Hopefully a must read for any skeptics who may still be out there.

Refreshingly realistic perspective on climate change. Not radical or alarmist but realistic and truthful.

Worthless book. Full of superficial arguments and nonsense... I read a few chapters and had to stop. This one is destined for the circular file. Don't waste the $10 but even more importantly spare yourself indignation of what this clown thinks he knows...

Congratulations to our B-CC High School class president, Glenn, for this captivating and depressing analysis of what our Mother Earth is facing. As a novice to this field, I found his points readily understandable, but also was grateful for the summaries, headlines, quotable quotes, and take aways. I appreciated his humor and his humility. I know that I will be referring to Blue Oasis repeatedly in the future. God bless you, Glenn.
Sincerely, John Z. Carter MD

This book provides a useful perspective on challenges to the energy grid when shifting from reliable, fossil fuel-based baseload power to intermittent renewable energy sources. However the author is hyperbolic in his discussion of the impact of rising CO2 levels on the climate, including attributing all bad weather today and resultant damage to property as unprecedented throughout history and solely due to climate change. He perpetuates the mistaken view that we will have an energy “transition”. He pretends that there is no carbon footprint from manufacturing wind and solar facilities (it’s in China, so it doesn’t matter); underestimates the importance of fossil fuels to world food supply; and takes a typical, California-based elitist perspective on energy transition (“it will cost a lot more for electricity … deal with it!”). He should read some Vaclav Smil and get real about these issues. Because in many parts of the country, fossil fuels are essential to human life (try making it through winter in Maine or North Dakota on wind and solar), maintaining a reliable energy grid is essential, not optional. This means trying to replace it with wind in solar requires duplicate energy systems — ridiculously unaffordable for 90% of the population. You can have energy security, energy affordability, or no growth in CO2 but you can’t have all three at the same time. Finally, his discussion of methane ignores the relatively short atmospheric residence time of the gas - which destroys the “end of the world” argument.

Dr. Ducat has given us an even-handed, well-written, and comprehensive discussion of the critical and controversial issues. If you only have time for one book on the subject, this should be it! RMM

The author makes many "assumptions" (his actual word). Clear scientific data backed up with many references (there were none) is required for this controversial topic. Unfortunately, a waste of $10.00.
