I got a free copy of this game thru Blue Orange, the makers of this game. I brought it to my meetup group in NYC. Everyone is given a paper, pencil and a card with six things on it to draw on both sides. The die determines what you will draw. Players take turns rolling the die. Everyone draws at the same time. If the die shows a four, everyone will draw what's on their card by the number four. You CANNOT use letters or numbers, but you can draw arrows to emphasize something. There's no time limit, but the faster you are, the higher the point value is that you can get. Because in the middle of the table are point value chips, up to six. The first person to finish drawing gets to grab the highest value chip (six points). The next player get the next highest chip (five points), and so on.

When everyone has finished and has a point value chip, shuffle the pictures and pass them out randomly, one to each person, making sure no one has the picture they drew. Players should initial their drawings on the lower right, per the instructions, Starting with the player holding the six point chip, each player tries to identify what was drawn in the picture, one guess only. If they guess right, the guesser and the person who drew the picture score the number of points indicated on the chip. The instructions say play ten rounds. We played six. The player with the most points at the end wins.

The game is quick and simple, and up to six can play. My group found it okay, but there were some who were not fams of drawing games. Also, the number four clues are in yellow print which is hard to see. The tin box makes it easy to carry when traveling. A good game to play at picnics, the park, your hotel room or wherever your next game night is.

My kids and I play a lot of games. Most of our favorite ones are complicated, but this one is dead simple, and people playing for the first time can step in on equal footing. You can also play for 5 minutes or an hour. So it's a great game to bring along to someone's house or on vacation or to pull out when there's a playdate over.

One of blue Orange games less appealing efforts. If you want a very fun drawing related game go with Who, What, Where! My kids and I absolutely love that game. That's what I'm comparing Sketch It to hence the reason I rated it so poorly.

Great game for small groups, even for players who are not good at drawing. We included our 7 year old niece and modified the game rules. I would choose a word that our niece could understand and other players would draw their respective item number. It was amazing to see how they were able to guess from simple drawings. We could only play a few rounds before everyone became tired from all the screaming and laughing.

Growing up I was a huge fan of Pictionary. I wanted to get something for my son that was similar, but better suited for the 7-year old age level. This is perfect! Most words are simple enough for an early reader to both read and draw. There have been a few obscure references that he hasn't known what they are, but for the most part, it is a huge hit. We play with kids, parents, and grandparents, and everyone enjoys it. The best part of the game is, you don't have to be a great artist to play - you can win even if you are just a good guesser, or if you are faster than everyone else, there are many ways to succeed, which makes it fun for everyone!

We just played it last night for the first time (my daughter got it for her 10th birthday which was this weekend) and had a lot of fun. It's nice how you can play for a short or longer time and with different numbers of people.

You want to have fun with friends, sketch it is for you! It's easy to use, the rules are simple and it's amazing to discover that some of your friends are very good at drawing while obviously some are not...
It doesn't matter to be good at drawing to win the game, because you have to guess what one of your friends drew...
We had a really great time!

we love Spot It! and Pictionary so we had hoped this would be at least as good. Not so much. The scoring is the downfall. It cumbersome and confusing at times and bogs down the pace of the game. It's ok to play just for fun without keeping score but then its not really a game anymore.
