I LOVE this microphone. And even though I already loved it, it got 200% better when I got a boom arm that clamps the desk and puts the Snowball mic next to my face. Got a pop filter too. Now I can record super clear sound... it even sounds pretty good with my laptop fan running and AC running the background (I remove background noise with Audacity). Also... in the video recording I did I have a major cold. Sorry. This is a legitimate review of a product I bought with my own money. Just putting this out there.

This is honestly the best PC microphone you can buy on a budget. I haven't found any better condenser microphones for a cheaper price that actually work well with a PC.

Pros:
- Crystal clear sound
- You plug it into your PC and it works out of the box, no setup needed
- Only $40 - best mic in the price range

Cons:
- Picks up some background noise, but you literally just adjust the microphone sensitivity on your computer and you're fine.

I would definitely look into this mic if you are trying to get into doing YouTube or streaming. There are obviously better options out there, but if you are on a budget, this is definitely what you want to be getting. This microphone also works well with all PC games that I play (CSGO, PUBG, Overwatch), so if you would rather not have a headset mic when playing games, this works well.

I would definitely recommend this microphone!

(My video is this review but spoken into this mic so you can hear the quality.) I have never had a microphone pick up my voice correctly. When I speak low, it fades out, when I go high, it cuts out. This microphone quite contrary catches everything I say without picking up weird background humming! I'm not like, some bonafide super special feller who knows that of which he speaks of when it comes to mic quality, but I find this instrument one of the best I've messed around with while dabbling. It's heavy! The ball core is like lifting a puppy. The stand that comes attached needs the screw at the bottom tightened to keep the legs mostly stable.

I have chosen to completely ignore all the other reviews explaining safety and secure desk holds, and I just stick the dang thing anywhere. On a table, on my keyboard, shoved it in amongst a pile of pillows. Look, I'm not that professional when people aren't looking and my desk is literally my bed. He doesn't fall over, and he picks up my noises no matter where I put him. (Oh no I've gendered it. Next comes naming it, and that's when you know you love things too much.) I've been singing karaoke like crazy, and my poor long-range boyfriend who has hearing issues can finally hear my real voice, clearly and properly.

I bought a pop filter, it hasn't arrived yet, but I'll probably need it, but for now, the pop pop pop isn't unreasonable.The red light on the front is obnoxiously bright, I just put a little tape over it. Simple. You need a quiet room for using this, but not too much of one. My heater going off doesn't register for instance, neither does my computer. I'm gonna crunch some fresh snow from outside so you can hear how crisp it is though, with a metric you can actually copy, probably. [I end up getting snow everywhere, on my keyboard, and my mouse, so I'm moving and dropping them here.]

I love it, it was well worth the money (I paid $30 or so thanks to repackaging and used, but worth the $50 or so.) and I can already tell this little cutie (and it is cute, my aging mother saw it and started giggling and wanted to hold it) is going to be a fine part of my vocal life.

Edit: I have no idea why the review is an hour long. It's only a 2 minute clip on my computer. I must've rolled a 1 on uploading.

Looks Great In Some Places, Bad in Others. Sounds Wonderful

This is without a doubt the best and most fun to use microphone I have ever used. When I received this, I tested it on the Skype thing that lets you hear your own mic, and for some reason it sounded much better than reviews on here and YouTube lead me to believe. I do very much like this mic, but it does have a couple design flaws that are just really annoying.

Pros:
The stand is very nice. I've seen some reviews giving the stand a bad rep, but that's kind of..dumb. It's a stand, it works, it has rubberized feet so it doesn't scratch up your table. What else do you want it to do, preform back flips or manipulate time and space? The legs are made of steel and the body is made out of a very nice and thick plastic. It's not made of solid gold and you're only paying $50.

The snowball can be easily disassembled. You can very easily screw the snowball onto a boom stick if you so choose. I like the fact that I can just unplug it very easily after I'm done using it. I'm a little paranoid and feel safer when I don't have the mic on and someone potentially listening to me.So being able to easily remove the power cable and again, easily, put it back in when I need to use it, is wonderful.

The device itself is gorgeous. Opting to pay $10 more for the black version (I do feel like I was scalped, though) was a great choice since it easily fits in with everything else on my desk.

The audio quality itself is pretty gosh darn great. I've very glad I opted for this instead of getting one of those XxxM0nTaInD3wxxX pro elite mlg gaming headsets, like what Razer makes, where you get poor headphones and a rather poor mic for $100. I'd recommend my route and get great headphones and this microphone. I plan on doing voice overs eventually for mods so this is going to be good for many things. But for the time being I use it for communicating with friends when playing games.

Cons:
The red LED. It looks terrible and is very intrusive. Yes, it lets me know that it's on. Know what else would've let me have this information? Any program that I'm using it for. Or, even, the microphone section under Recording Devices when you right click on the speaker icon if you're using Windows. I guess putting electrical tape over the light would work, or just not putting the light there in the first place would be even better.

The power cord. The cable you get in the box to power the snowball doesn't even match the device. In my case, I got a brown cable. Brown. Cable. Doesn't match a single thing, it would match my desk itself but it's such an odd and ugly tone that it doesn't even match that.

Overall, I really do like this product. If it ever dies, I will be using it to play catch with my friends.

I work in TV production as a profession. I've bought this for personal usage but have used the Blue Yeti mics a lot at work when directors are recording guide com for their films.

The Yeti has a reputation as the go-to USB mic for non-broadcast or budget broadcast com records and the reason for that is it's a high quality mic.

As I bought this Snowball for personal use, couldn't quite warrant the over doubled price tag of the Yeti but I have to say, in terms of quality, there's very little difference in it. This is a superb microphone for spoken word and unless you specialise in sound, I'd be surprised if you could really tell the difference between the two.

I also got it in Black and it looks fantastic. The one thing I would say is it is a lot larger than I had expected when ordering (A little smaller than a hand wrapped around a fist) but you soon get used to it, and as it looks so good anyway, this isn't such a problem.

The tripod it comes with is great and doesn't seem to pick up much vibrations from the table.

I personally have only used this for spoken word but have seen videos of people using it for music and it seems to stand up well.

If you're after a microphone for YouTube channels, voice overs or anything spoken word, but can't warrant the >£100 price tag, this is the one to go for!

I order on Wednesday and I received the package on Friday (1 day early) so great delivery service again.

So to the mic. It's the Ice version so doesn't have the selectable polar patterns, and only has the cardioid pattern which is fine for my needs. Just remember to double check which version your are ordering as it's easy to make the mistake.

The mic sounds with a really nice crisp tone and is great for my purpose of streaming on twitch and making youtubbe videos. It's very easy to connect to your pc or mac and it's really easy to fit on a mic stand like I have in my pic. Doesn't pic up much background noise either, you may see YouTube vids where people say you need to be close to the mic it's self to get a good level, in my set up I'm about 1 and half feet away and it picks up my voice with ease and I can be sat very comfitabley in my chair and game and not worry about it.

I streamed for about 90 mins last night and played back the stream and I'm very impressed with the audio quality it just makes the stream sound more professional.

My wife (who is a sound engineer) was sceptical at me using a USB mic as she says I should use an interface and an XLR mic. But I did a quick sound test as soon as I got home and called her in to listen. And she was pleasantly surprised and thought the quality of the audio is very good.

So if you are looking for a good USB mic, for streaming YouTube or just to improve your Skype audio, then go and order this mic, it's great and most defiantly worth it.

Doesn't work, known problem with this microphone

Well this was super disappointing. I bought this as it came highly recommended for someone who is just starting to record videos and didn't want to invest too heavily. I even bought the extra pieces such as a mic stand and pop filter. Set everything up and it looked good!

I started to test immediately, and well the volume it picks up is ridiculously quiet. To get any normal level of sound you have to practically be eating the microphone, this of course means your audio quality is terrible and you have to have it pressed into your face. I desperately tried to find any fixes assuming it was my fault at first, the more research I did the more it became clear that this was a known technical fault with this model. Amazon offered a full refund or replacement so that was alright but it seems a bit of pot luck whether you'll get a microphone that works or not. I took the refund and I'm still looking for a better microphone.

Claims to be compatible with windows 10 but this is a lie. Its near impossible for it to work on window's 10 as it does not have any driver and snowball does not make drivers for this product. Now its just junk since it cant work without a driver. Hopefully i will return this or see if the snowball website can help. Their FAQ is also just as useless giving a request form as the only solution.

Excellent device overall

I often play PC games however don't find wearing a full headset comfortable.

The Blue Snowball is an excellent device. Its unbelievably simple to use (literally plug and play) and the sound quality has been described as better than the headset I was using prior to purchasing (which was a £350 Sennheiser headset mic). It also has the option to use on something like a suspension boom arm which is very handy.

The main selling point for me about the Snowball is that it seems to pick up sound perfectly even when placed quite far away. I often have it a foot or so away from me (to the left or right) and have never been told I am hard to hear. Additionally, it seems to be excellent at filtering out background noise (people I was speaking to were unable to hear keyboard typing or mouse clicks, or louder sounds like doors opening and closing).

The only down side to the Snowball is that it does not come with a hard mute button. You can obviously mute it with software, or just unplug it, but a mute button would warrant a 5 star review for me.

Great Quality In The Price Range

I decided to buy a desktop mic for doing some voice overs and some occasional acoustic guitar recording and I didn’t wanna pay a fortune. It’s a good design, I absolutely love the black. It feels pretty solid and there is some weight too it. Comes with a nice desk standing metal tripod, which again has some weight to it,

It’s basicaally a plug and play set up, though I did have to play around to get a decent level, mainly because you have to be quite close to the mic to get decent volume, which if anything, is the only real let down with this mic,

If your desk set set up is anything like mine, it’s difficult to get really close and as a result, I’m probably not getting the results that this mic is capable of,

For these reasons, I have took a star off the rating, for its overall design, build quality and sound. . .its certainly a 5,

As an addition, I bought a basic £6.99 pop filter, as you may very find you need this, especially if you plan to do vocals or record voice overs etc - it makes a huge difference,

So to conclude - a great mic at the price bracket, but the fact you have to get so close, is a bit of a let down

Incredible value - clean clear sound perfect for podcasts and youtube

Very clear sound and directional so it just picks up sound that is ahead of it and nearby which means
that I can type on the keyboard behind it and it's not picked up. That was the main reason that I got this
since I had another excellent mic, the samson G-Track, though it picks up sound from all directions.

Have a look on youtube since there are many reviews there.

I really like having my pop filter attached to the little stand it comes with so I can hold it easily in my hand.

I am getting familiar with it still though and so getting the distance that I want it to be for it to sound like I
want so perhaps in another month it would have been 5 star since I've had the Samson for many years
and so perhaps used to it and how it sounds (which is great).

I use it for my youtube channel and creating video lessons and it is fantastic value!

Sono una YouTuber ed ero alla ricerca di un buon microfono ad un prezzo non esagerato.
Molti miei colleghi possiedono il "fratello maggiore", Blue Yeti, ma visto il mio budget ho deciso di provare lo Snowball viste le numerose recensioni positive.
La differenza tra il microfono della webcam e lo Snowball è ABISSALE. Nel montaggio si nota che nei momenti di silenzio la track audio non presenta alcuna "onda", ciò significa che i rumori di sottofondo sono ridotti al MINIMO !
L'audio risulta pulito e chiaro, sono davvero soddisfatta del mio acquisto per questo il mio voto è 5 stelle su 5!

Lo Snowball è arrivato nella sua confezione originale, ben imballato e protetto.

All'interno della confezione ho trovato:

CONTRO:

First impressions of the Snowball are good. The microphone is roughly 10cm in diameter and weighs less than half a kilo. It comes in a shiny box complete with a USB cable, a mic and a tripod. Underneath the mic is a screw-in mount for the tripod stand. The tripod is sturdy but easily manoeuvred so you can rotate and angle the Snowball to suit you.

When I connected the Snowball, an LED light glows red on the front to indicate that it's powered, next you have to select it in System Preferences' Sound Input pane (Though my computer configured it automatically and set it to default).

The audio quality from the Snowball is excellent. Speech is crisp and clear, even playing acoustic guitar the mic reproduced every string pick and fret buzz, and background hum was non-existent. Even with music playing at a reasonable volume in the immediate background, the Snowball minimised it and reproduced recorded speech brilliantly.

The Snowball is perfect for podcasts, streaming, and recording vocals or acoustic instruments. It may be a little larger than other USB mics but its quality. Overall 10/10

Great things come in heavy packages

The mic is awesome. I haven't got much to compare it with and i bought this to start streaming on twitch.
The best quality is being within 6 inches of the mic, but i don't like it that close. I moved it 2 foot away and it still pics up my voice fine with good quality. I just needed to boost the gain a little which will pick up more back ground noise but it's barely noticeable for streaming.
I bought a cheap boom arm and pop filter with mine so I can't speak for the stand but it seems well built. It doesn't extend to tall though and it still rests on the desk on a solid metal frame so i can imagine it will pick up table knocks and hammering on keys but i have no experience of this either.
It's the easiest mic to plug and play ever and the cable is really nice quality and a decent length too.
I've heard many great things about Blue's snowball ICE, snowball and Yeti and so far I'm not dissappointed

Used a microphone attached to a pair of High quality headsets until now and while the quality was pretty good, I did find a lot of background noise and static was also picked up and when I started streaming and recording tutorials, it just didn't cut it anymore.
I bought one of these bad boys and the difference is night and day. My voice is super clear now and no more noise and distortion.
I did need to buy a cheap 2£ pop filter to put it on top of it but besides that it's really great. Works out of the box with Windows 10 and no drivers were required.

Dissapointing :(

I decided to buy this microphone after getting fed up of losing games due to my old webcam mic not being clear, causing teammates to not understand me.
My friend has the Yeti which sounds incredible, it was out of my price range so I thought I would give this one a go. I was excited to try it out and had read a lot of positive reviews about this mic and Blue in general (mainly the Yeti)
I thought I would plug it in and surprise my teammates with my new and improved sound quality! However, not one comment was made... When I questioned them whether it had made a difference, none of them could tell the difference and communication continued to be lost because of it also.
I returned this mic as it was no better than what I already had and cost 4x as much!
I have since purchased an Antlion Audio ModMic which attaches to my headphones which has made a night and day difference and now my teammates and I are happy :)
Overall I would say, don't bother with this mic, if you can afford the Yeti then that is a great option otherwise look elsewhere.

I am now using this microphone to make tutorial videos and on Skype. It seems to have the advantage of being fully recognised and fully set up in Windows 10 and on some other apps I use. I would say that the quality for recording speech is very true to the original. Being so sensitive it picks up very slight vibrations from my computer on the same wooden desk and from my keyboard when I use it. This is overcome by using the stand that I also purchased which is anchored to a place off my desk. I will be investigating how this mic works for recording live music; for that it would ideally need a stand with elastic suspension? This mic may be specifically designed for speech? I would say the price is reasonable.
