My interest was to buy an over-ear headphone which features sweat proof ear cups. So, I tried many headphones like Skullcandy hesh 2 wireless, Inateck BH1001, and Paww wavesound 2. Each one has got many defects and varied sound response.
Coming to this product:
1) DESIGN: It is good and feels light on ears and looks beautiful when you go to gym under lights..5/5
2) SOUND QUALITY: As the name suggests, it produces mega bass without distorting vocals. So, it pdoduces clean music with pump up in the low frequency audio. Headphones feature 102db sensitivity. Which is best at this price range. 5/5
3) BUILD QUALITY : EXCELLENT 5/5 . Sweat proof, foldable , and portable comes in a handy hard durable case. 5/5
4) CONNECTIVITY: It connects to the devices super fast and features battery monitor status level on apple devices. 5/5
OVERALL: MY PERSONAL REVIEW 5/5
It appears that BlueAnt is closing these out. I paid more for my pair just a couple of weeks ago. Just got around to testing them and noticed they've dropped in price quite a bit - so this review may be a day late and a dollar short.
A bit of background: I'm in a lengthy process of buying, testing and reviewing full over-ear bluetooth headphones just due to the number of hours in an average day I listen to music with them - in the office, cooking in the kitchen, chores around the house, working in the yard or working on the cars, watching shows after kids are in bed. I'm drawing my upper boundary for paying for a superior set of headphones around $500-600 - of course you can spend more than a few thousand bucks on headphones but they can really only get SO good over bluetooth before... well, you get the point. And while my top three headsets to date (#3: Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2, #2: Bowers & Wilkins P7, #1: Bang & Olufsen H9) are $200, $400 and $500 respectively, I am completely agnostic about testing and trying the least expensive - quite to the point, I found this pair of $18 headphones to be completely acceptable in terms of delivering sound quality, from the deepest bass to the highest treble. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JTYWJSI/ Cheap and light construction, to be certain, but I have tested out quite a bit more expensive units, such as Photive BTH3 ($40) and Bohm B-76 and equivalent whitelabels ($110) producing simply unacceptable, inferior bass even relative to the $18 pair above.
All of which is to say, I've tried more than a few and I - and you - get to be picky, at any price point.
I unboxed these and my first impression is: solid. Very solid, very well built. They have cast metal arms wrapping around a dense, high-quality plastic ear cup. The backs are rubberized and again matte, and also feel very good. Add pillowy soft perforated pleather ear pads and headband and it all makes for a nice experience. Trying them on, I found that even fully extended they only JUST barely fit over my head - but my ears touch the bottom of the ear pads. I have a big head (or so I've been told... I take it quite literally) but heads do certainly come in sizes larger than my own, and could realistically run out of ear space - or even putting over a full hairdo. They could use at least one more click - maybe two - on each side.
The listening... okay, yes, they are very bass-forward and I wouldn't say balanced quite the way I like. You can imagine a low-pass cutoff on a subwoofer. You can select anything from 50 to 150Hz. These go for "everything under 150Hz" which gets a little muddled sometimes, while failing to sufficiently emphasize deep sub-bass that they CAN make - really quite well - just overplayed a little.
Then I was adjusting them - bending the headband a little to see if it's metal - it's not - or at least, it's not flexible, with a hard plastic outer casing - and pushed them at an odd angle, but not very hard and... crrrrrrack. Like a nut shell. The left ear arm "shell" at the base of the headband cracked along the seam, with surprisingly little force. See attached picture. It cracked along that seam exactly the same way on both the front and rear seam. This is, mind you, the first time I wore these. And, no, I don't turn into the incredible hulk when I burn the toast. Sure, the kids were all yelling and giggling and crying (at the same time), but that has nothing to do with this...
All joking aside, I was pulling the headband really no differently than you would normally when taking them off with one hand. Given they're billed as athletic-focused... doesn't quite jive. It seems that that plastic housing doesn't handle much torque, at least when the arms are fully extended. It seems that there needs to be some other metal band in there that isn't there, or isn't thick enough, or isn't bonded to the plastic properly.
I actually had this review drafted up very differently on my computer here. I was still at "4 stars verging on 5" despite the slightly too short arms, the slightly muddled bass and underemphasized treble. Primarily... d'oh!... on the basis of build and materials quality.
As it is, I'm pretty surprised this little plastic housing is so brittle and required such little force to crack.
I DO like these. Truly, they feel (felt) like solid, well-made cans with fantastically soft ear pads. I like them enough that despite owning quite a few other pairs, I would rather have these replaced than just return them. They ARE nice. They sound good. I guess I'll at least say for them: "your mileage may vary".
This headset is simply amazing. Sound canceling. Looks great. Holds battery life for a while. Easy to use.
But, mind stopped working one day in the right ear, and so knowing my device was under warranty, i contacted BlueAnt and requested to use my warranty to get a new headset. Their customer service took a week to finally get that everything had been tried to salvage the device. They didn't seem to understand that " It does not work" very well. So, they processed the Warranty and told me it'd take 2-3 weeks. I was okay with that, as long as I had a time period in which I could get a new headset.
That was in mid December 2017. It is now January 20th 2018. I have yet to receive any information about a delivery. I have yet to receive my item. I contacted BlueAnt customer service and they continue to say that my item will be there. It has been over a month now and I have yet to receive my replacement. So, I went out and bought a Sony headset that works perfectly fine. Hopefully i'll receive my item eventually and use it for working out. But, from now on I guess I'll have to use my earbuds that get in the way... Very unfortunate.Great product... Terrible Customer Service.
