[...] i decided to buy the new B2.1 because it had what is supposed to be the best of B2 & 2 really hot bonus tracks. Well, here's what i thought:
1. A Dream (featuring Faith Evans & Notorious B.I.G) (5/5) - This is an excellent intro track. A really cool tribute to late Notorious B.I.G. Not only does it feature Jay-Z's excellent lyrics and a really good singing chorus from Faith Evans, but it has a whole line from B.I.G's breakthrough hit "Juicy".
2. Hovi Baby (4/5) - Ok song. Some intelligent lyrics from Jay. A pretty good beat, but this song seems like its missing something.
3. The Watcher 2 (featuring Dr. Dre, Rakim & Truth Hurts) (4.5/5) - The only reason this song got 4.5 instead of 5 stars is because of Truth Hurts, i'm sorry, but she is terrible. Easily Rakim's verse is the best in the song, should've been longer, though. Jay's & Dre's verses are both alright, but Jay's has a tighter sound to it. The beat is amazing, a near perfect song.
4. '03 Bonnie & Clyde (featuring Beyonce) (3/5) - An alright remake of 2Pac's "Me & My Girlfriend", but seems not good enough to match the originals sound. Also, the radio & TV's constant playing of it made me sick very quickly.
5. Excuse Me Miss (5/5) - Even with constant radio & video play, i love this track. Pharrell's singing is excellent & Jay's raps are tight. Really good song.
6. All Around The World (featuring LaToya Williams) (3/5) - I don't know, i just don't like the vibe of it. It's a funky old school type song, but i don't care for the singing and Jay's raps aren't that good.
7. Guns & Roses (featuring Lenny Kravitz) (5/5) - This is an amazing track. The guitar & vocals from Lenny make Jay's raps all the more enjoyable, great choice for the next single.
8. U Don't Know Remix (featuring M.O.P) (5/5) - This is easily way better than the original, not only are Jay's raps improved, but newcomers to Roc-A-Fella records, M.O.P, tear up the Just Blaze beat. Stellar performance from Jay & M.O.P.
9. Meet The Parents (5/5) - Excellent song. Great beat & incredible storyline, everything needed for a good song.
10. Some How Some Way (featuring Beanie Sigel & Scarface) (4/5) - This is pretty good, but Beanie's vocals get tired & Scarface's are too short, but OK.
11. The Bounce (4/5) - The beat saved this song from getting 3 stars, the lyrics aren't terrible, but their not perfect, either. The Timbaland beat saves the day, making it a good song.
12. What They Gonna Do Pt. II (4/5) - Not perfect, but good club song, good beat, good lyrics, average.
BONUS (HIDDEN) TRACKS:
"La-La-La-La (Excuse Me Miss Again)" (5/5) - TOTALLY overthrows the original. Jay's lyrics improve MAJORLY and the Neptunes' beat gets even hotter. This is definetily a good song for clubs, good song to release to radio, too.
"Stop" (10/5) - There is a reason i gave this song double the most stars, its because its the best song on the album! The beat is incredible, Jay's raps are so tight i don't know where to start, but this is supposed to be what you can expect from his next studio album, which he calls out as the "Black Album", if this is what i'm gonna hear on it, there's no doubt it will be a classic!
That's what i had to say about Jay-Z's new "Blueprint 2.1", remember, if you owned B2 then you probably won't want to buy this album because you already have all the tracks EXCEPT the two incredible bonus ones. If i were you, i would just download the bonus tracks off the net and just stick with B2, but if you don't have B2, this ones definetily for you.
