These songs are from various Prestige recordings recorded between 1957-1960. The Hawk gets to jam with some of the great 50's and 60's jazz leaders including John Coltrane, Art Blakey,Pepper Adams,JJ Johnson, and others. Hawkins always had an open mind and fit in well with the younger players. Highly recommended.

If you like Coleman Hawkins as much as I do-- which is a lot-- you'll like this offering. The list of Bean's bandmates is about as good as it gets. The liner notes, which confront the charge that Hawkins was not a strong blues player, are first-rate.
