The protagonists are Helen and Marcio. They both have stuff they're going through and the author does a great job of portraying Helen & Marcio handling these situations in a *realistic* manner.
Part One focuses mainly on Helen, Marcio not coming in really until Part Two except for one chapter. Helen of course freaks out b/c she's unexpectedly pregnant by her boyfriend/fiance (Daniel). Luckily it's not one of those cliche on-and-done preggers story lines. Daniel (who is a major control freak) is all 'get rid of it or get out' so she leaves. At this point in their relationship Helen and Daniel were living together and she'd quit her job to 'manage his social functions' so she has no job and nowhere to live; and they are a few months out from the wedding. (I don't like Daniel, can you tell?) Then, surprise again, twins! So Helen is on her own to figure out who she is and how she's going to take care of herself and her babies. She grows as a person, realizing she was kind of a doormat for Daniel (yes she was a weak chick cliche but she grows out of it).
Part Two sees Marcio and Helen meeting, getting to know one another, and falling in love. Helen's 5 or 6 months along so Marcio falls for her babies and all! Of course there's more in Part Two, but I'll let you read about it.
Part Three has Daniel coming back into the picture, to stir up trouble of course. Drama ensues.
This is a happily ever after book, complete with Epilogue! I love epilogues. I love it when everything is all wrapped up. Some people like the more open endings, I'm not one of them. :)
-a few typos but no more than I've seen in mass market paperbacks and definitely not to the point of taking me out of the story
-over use of the word 'sobbing' but that may be a cultural thing that doesn't translate from UK to US but still, I could've done with less crying
-excellent plot, story well fleshed out, it never really dragged
-realistic situations (for the most part)
-realistic characters who are pretty well fleshed out, even the secondary characters
-NOT A SERIAL!!! this is a complete novel
-happy ever after (this is something I love in books - life is hard enough, I like knowing the story will end with a smile)
-epilogue, which is something I love
I HIGHLY recommend this novel. It is WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!
A HUGE THANK YOU TO AMANDA MARTIN for writing this and providing excellence in this e-book market. I often find myself editing these kindle books as I read them. Yes, I'm one of those 'grammar nazi' types. But your book was one of the best ones where I didn't find myself doing this! If you ever need a second pair of eyes for editing/proofing, I'm available, ready, willing, and able! No Charge :D
