On only my third trip the handle completely broke. Very disappointing. Currently in MKE with 5 more flight segments on the trip. This should be fun.
There are no secondary handles anywhere on the bag, so I'm really out of luck. WOW, for this kind of money, I expected better.

UPDATE: Now the lock mechanism is broken, too. It requires a key everytime, no quick release. STAY AWAY from this bag. We'll see if the Blue Smart Team cares to remedy this problem.

Not Awful! Not Great! Needs some improvement
As another poster (showed) the bag is not the most secure item. In any case I bought the bag and got a significant discount (under $300), at that price it might be worth it, but at $400, you might want to think about that.
I took the bag overseas to Trinidad, and I did 'check' the bag at American Airlines. I could not get the GPS function to work, it seemed that the bag would always turn off, so that was useless, the weight scale was not accurate, and the Android application I could not get the lock to work properly while it did work well with the iOS.
In hindsight I can say that I am glad I bought this on Amazon, I was able to return with no issues! If the Bluesmart can fix the issues and maybe do a better design with the bag (you can only really use one part of the bag) I would gladly try this bag again.

I recently purchased this Bluesmart suitcase for my husband and I to use. We both love it and plan on using it for short trips as a carry-on suitcase.

My husband wrote this review from his experience:
"We bought this luggage to primarily use for my business travel and short trips. I will probably be using it more often then my wife since she usually packs a lot more when we travel. It is a sleek and well-designed carry-on suitcase designed for a short 2-3 day trip. At first glance, I was impressed with the design and overall look and quality of the materials. I also really like the ability to store my laptop and other items in the main compartment that is protected by a zippable flap that contains a mesh compartment in the lid to protect the computer. When I traveled in the past, I always used my Samsonite Winfield 2 Fashion 20-Inch, as well as my laptop leather bag. Now that I have a Bluesmart, I am really excited to just take one piece of luggage that fits all of my clothes, shoes, laptop, tablet, and toiletries. As you can tell in the pictures, I was able to fit a pair of jeans, slacks, t-shirts, dress shirts, polo, gym shorts, couple pairs of socks, underwear, dress shoes and a toiletry kit. There is even extra room at the bottom of the top compartment where the laptop fits to store smaller items such as socks, your airplane ticket or a thin book/magazine.

I also really like the technology features which are a great bonus compared to my other carry-on suitcases. First you have to charge the battery in the luggage before using it. There are 2 USB ports to charge your smart phone (website states that you can charge an iPhone 6x) therefore; you don’t need to find a seat near an outlet which makes this a great work station. You can even charge your computer while in the bag as there is a USB port in the same location! This is one of the best features as I sometimes forget to charge my phone and am always looking for an outlet. In addition, the app was very easy to dowload and use as it contains a location tracking option via GPS in case you happen to lose your bag, you have the ability to weigh your luggage using scale in the handle, and the best part is that you can lock and unlock your bag from your phone. The bag actually locks when you walk away which is a nice security feature.

Overall, this piece of luggage contains some innovative features that allow for a more efficient travel experience. Given that Bluesmart is still relatively new in the market place, I am really excited to see what the company does next especially with enhancements to their app and other technology! I would definitely recommend this product to our friends, families and business travelers who travel light and are looking for a cool high-tech carry-on luggage! I hope they will also offer a larger version for check-in luggage in the near future!" - JS

I thought this was going to be a disappointment. But, it turns out to be one of the best purchases I've made. It has everything I need to travel fast and through the TSA process. The battery charger was huge for me, since a lot of times the outlets at airports are hogged up, and I like sitting light on the plane, so I really don't enjoy having to pull out my charger and plug it into the outlet on the plane either. The charger is perfect for layovers, and I don't have to sit near an outlet for hours and hours. The location tracker, I haven't had the need to use it yet, but it's nice to know that if my luggage ever gets lost - I can track it real time! I actually tested this out by leaving it a friend's house and it was pretty damn accurate as to where my luggage was located.

The digital scale is super helpful, I don't have to remove items or add items and then weigh it to check for accuracy. I can literally monitor the weight and pack as I go, without ever worrying if I've placed too much items in my luggage. I also love the electronics compartment on the outside, I used to HATE having to dig through my bag for my iPad and then having to somehow fit it back into my luggage. Now, I can just pull it out from the compartment and slip it back in once through TSA. The digital lock is pretty cool too, I don't have to worry about small keys or combination locks, as I used to with my old way of using luggage.

The design is great, it's sleek and probably one of the better looking luggage cases out there. I haven't run into any issues with this item so far. Will revisit and add more if anything changes regarding my great experience with this item so far.

I've been using my Bluesmart for a couple of weekends now, and I must say I'm really impressed.

It's not everyday that I shell this amount of money on a bag, so I wanted to give a review that might be helpful to everyone.

The bag is really well constructed and the materials employed seem to be of great quality. Most importantly (to me) it handles really well in real-life usage.
It's clear that a lot of thought went into designing this bag, and it's also clear this is just a first version.
My preferred thing is definitely the laptop compartment. FINALLY someone who did it right!

I've found that my biggest fears with the bag have not turned to reality, thankfully. The biggest one surely being TSA / airport security. Both times I used it, I didn't have to explain anything and I just zipped through.

It also went as a carry on on Frontier, which seemed really stringent so I'm really relieved there.

The battery has come in handy more than I'd like to admit, and I found it really convenient to have the USB ports just there and not having to go find a battery pack (which I still bring anyways).

Other features:
- Scale: kinda cool to know the weight, but not super interesting or useful for me. If you're curious tho, it's cool.
- Security features: having the ability to lock it is really nice. It's not a safe, but it prevents people from stealing your laptop and such while passing by.

There are a bunch of other improvements to be made, but nonetheless this is likely going to be my standard weekend carry-on from now on!

Together with my wife we've gone through quite a few suitcases in a last 3 years. They just don't last. So I have been searching for a more rugged one and normally those are more expensive, so it came down to additional features for us. And BlueSmart definitely made it to a leader board (my wife has abandoned her suitcase in a rush before, so GPS tracking was a must for us). Even though the reviews were mixed, we decided to give it a try as we love new technologies and were willing to help to improve the product if needed.

First impression. Great packaging and a premium feel. Durable and stylish, it immediately made my wife excited about her next business trip. The connection was pretty easy and the app was helpful to walk us through the process. We loved the fact that it comes with the key set as well, as options are best: you lose the key for your suitcase, you got your phone to unlock and vise versa.

Set-up process: download the app. Plug in your suitcase with a USB-charger. Turn “ON” your suitcase. There is a hidden switch inside the suitcase, towards the handle, that you need to flip to “ON” position. Overall, get in a right mind-set, read instructions carefully, and your suitcase will be up in running in under 5mins.

Favorite features: phone charger from the suitcase and built-in digital scale.

Be aware: the service of GPS comes with 10 free location tracking only, so use them wisely.

Best usage case for us: short business trip and weekend vacation getaways

I never even thought about innovating on a suitcase but this is a really cool product! It's definitely the best looking and well designed suitcase I've even owned. I feel like a total boss at the airport! I know that some people say it's a little small, but I've not found that to be an issue and I've had smaller suitcases in the past. It's a great business suitcase that is small enough so you don't have to check it in.

My favorite feature is the battery charger! I've had airport delays where I've needed to charge my phone and I often used to forget my phone charger when traveling so now I just leave a wire charger in the suitcase so I know I've always got juice for my phone! The battery is super-charged too - I think the website claims it can hold 6x phone charges or something crazy like that. I haven't needed to do it 6 times in a row, but that's pretty neat.

The digital scales and the auto lock feature from the phone are pretty nice features. It's unlikely I'll lose this beauty so I haven't needed the location tracker, but it's a great feature in case somebody "permanently borrows" it! The analytics are interesting, and I guess they can easily update and add to this as it's being driven by the app on your phone.

Overall, I'd recommend this product. It's stylish, the features are handy and I love that they're innovating on a suitcase! Seriously, a suitcase!! Who would have thought!? This is the future!

This suitcase is great, and as a frequent traveler it is exactly what I needed. It is pretty sleek and fits the mold of a proper 'business' suitcase and carry on, but is also quite practical to say the least. The multi directional rolling, which is a must in all suitcases, is perfect. To put it briefly, I could not be happier with my purchase.

I use the Bluesmart on all my trips and the charger comes in handy more often than not. I really only charge my phone with the suitcase, but it has come through for me every single time. Beyond the 'perks' of a smart suitcase, the thing is extremely durable as well. You can be pretty certain that anything placed in the suitcase will come out in the same condition, even if it goes into the overhead bin. The suitcase is quite sturdy when being dragged and rolled through a busy airport and I have yet to run into any stability issues.

If I had to name a 'complaint', it would be that the suitcase is on the smaller side of the spectrum. That said, I am not even sure this is a valid complaint as given how strict airlines are getting with overhead space I am always confident my bag will not be gate checked (whic is the absolute worst). All in all, I would have to say the Bluesmart is definitely worth the money and I am extremely pleased with the purchase. You get what you pay for in this case!

Meh... really wanted to like this bag. It's super light but after one trip all the corners were rubbed off. Also had some trouble with it buckling when packed full. Wheels are fine on smooth surfaces but a challenge anywhere else. The tech is also pretty meh at the end of the day for the price. I also tried a Trunkster which felt sturdier but I ended up hating the tech and the sliding door. Both of those bags held 20-25% less than the Tumi they were replacing. Ultimately found a bag I really like, the G-Ro which has, for me, been a much better fit.

As an early adopter of the Bluesmart crowdfunding campaign, I was extremely happy to receive my luggage. Not only is it a beautifully sleek and modern looking carry-on, but it has all of the functions one could want in a smart suitcase.

There are tons of useful features that are linked to the mobile app such as remote lock, built in digital scale, proximity sensor, etc. However, my favorite feature was the charging battery.
As an avid traveler, I found myself constantly searching for outlets at airports, and sitting on the floor next to my charging phone more than I would've liked.
Thanks to the Bluesmart, my charging stress is gone. I can comfortably wait for my flight and ensure my phone and electronics are charged without an issue, being connected to the luggage.

The bag itself is perfect for a weekend trip, and did a great job holiding all of my carryon necessities. The front slot is a quick and convenient place to store my computer when going through security.

I highly recommend this bag for anyone interested in the intersection of tech and sleekly designed luggage.
Plus, it's a great conversation starter as well.
