"Delectably sensual...intensely emotional." -- Lucy Monroe, USA Today bestselling author

Silver Star Award
"Carnally, Ivy and Simon have a connection that left me whimpering with tension. Their moves from raw sex to tender adoration. Their love is a bit obsessive at times, leaving me on the edge of my seat for what unusual thing will happen next. Ms. Burns has written such an appealing story that I found myself eagerly looking for the end just so I could see what would happen between these astounding characters. Although I normally do not gravitate to the historical novels, A Bluestocking Christmas has definitely changed my mind and is most deserving of a Silver Star Award. "― Just Erotic Romance Reviews

"Monica Burns has a writing style that is fluid and graceful. Team that up with a pen drenched with illicit wordplay, and it brings the readers to a fever pitch within the first few chapters! The premise is fully flavored with originality and creativity. This reader has never read anything Ms. Burns has written and not fallen totally under the spell of her writing!"

From the Author

As a romance author, I strive hard to make every read better than the last. Writing sexy romance has personal meaning for me due to my surviving sexual assault. Whether I write a dark or light themed book, the ultimate goal is to provide readers with a read that is entertaining, but most of all, illustrates that love is the light that can overcome darkness.

The story is in medias res, and begins with an angry confrontation between Ivy and Simon. In feeling betrayed, Ivy goes to her haven - the library, where a ghost tries to get her to rethink her wish to forget Simon forever.

The concept is very interesting, and I loved all the references to authors and all the wordplay in the book. Very well done, Mrs. Burns!

However, I have to admit that Ivy's character leaves a little to be desired. She is presented as a very intelligent and sensible woman, yet she could not even hear her cousin out when she believe she was betrayed by her. Her angst carries out for many years, and despite her realizing that she was not behaving rightly, she still could not see past her own anger. This frustrated me, as with her reluctance to let Simon into her heart. Thankfully, the ghost throws a surprise at the end, and it's HEA again.

All the reference to books and reading in the novel makes it a good read by a cozy fire in a cold night. :)

A Bluestocking Christmas is an enjoyable and memorable book. Perfect for anytime. Especially during the holidays.

As expected with a Monica Burns novel, the love scenes are sizzling.

The conflict between Ivy and Simon is totally believable. Both were betrayed in the past by someone they loved and trusted and now cannot trust each other. Simon does not trust women. Ivy does not trust members of the peerage. The deadline of midnight and Ivy's need to forgive her cousin combine to increase the importance of her being able to forgive and trust.

The book is a fun read -- thanks to the ghost, Ivy's and Simon's banter back and forth through quotations from a variety of famous writers, a small cast of secondary characters, and events such as Simon's use of flowers to try to win Ivy's attention.

And speaking of the ghost. Yes, the way the story is told as a journey through time and place on Christmas Eve makes the book reminiscent stories such as "A Christmas Carol" and "It's a Wonderful Life." But who is the ghost in this story? I'm not telling. You will have to read (and enjoy) the book to find out.

`A Bluestocking Christmas' by Monica Burns left me in a need of a cold shower! No joke!

I only read a handful of books from her but every one was so sensual that it left me in want of a fan. What I loved about this one was that she reinvented classic movies such as `It's a Wonderful Life' and `A Christmas Carol' with this Victorian historical romance set in 1892 England.

Simon, Viscount Wycombe is a man who loves his family and aims to protect them, especially his young nephew. It appears that the young man has fallen for an older woman and Simon is determined to put this commoner in her place and make sure she never comes close to him again. What he doesn't count on is his reaction to the woman.

Ivy Beecham is a spinster that has some issues with aristocracy and it took her a long time to train herself to hide her feelings. Coming face to face with Simon as he confronts her in regards to her relationship to his nephew opens her eyes and wounds long hidden to a past that was better left forgotten.

This is not a long story, although it wasn't short either. I'd say it was just perfect for an evening at home with some Earl Gray...and some Victorian Christmas music in the background.

It was perfectly pitched; fast paced with a secret or two; filled to the brim with warmth and sensuality that will leave you in a want of a cold shower and in the end will make your eyes mist.

This is a must for this Christmas!

If I can remember the story plot a couple of months after I read it, I feel that it was a book important enough to be read. I remember the story AND the characters in this story very well, even though I read this book maybe 30 books ago. There is so much being written out there and I read a lot. The title was well chosen which also helps me remember what the book was about. It reminded me a little of Charles Dicken's Christmas Carol. I intend to read more of Monica Burns' books.

Ivy Beecham is and heiress and a librarian. A very unusual combination. Simon Carlton, Viscount Wycombe, knows she works at the London Library and believes she is a fortune-hunter trying to ensnare his nephew. When he approaches her, he finds a beautiful educated spitfire who is not impressed with his title or position. Their war of words fuels an intense physical attraction. They become lovers. Distrust leads Ivy to break off her liaison with Simon. As Ivy seeks solace in the library, a ghostly apparition appears. Will he help these two soul mates find their HEA? Monica Burns writes a wonderful story that is filled with emotion and white hot romance. Ivy and Simon are so perfectly matched. They are intelligent, strong willed and passionate. I loved the ghostly apparition that helped guide Ivy. This is a wonderful way to put you in the holiday mood.
