NOTE: The audio quality you'll get from this is entirely dependent on the device you're using it with. For example, yes, this is Bluetooth 4.0, however if you're using this with a device that's transmitting Bluetooth 3.0, then you'll only be getting 3.0. And yes, this features aptX, but if you're device isn't capable of transmitting aptX then you won't get that benefit. If you're considering picking this up and audio quality is high-up on your list of priorities, I'd highly recommend doing a bit of research on the specs of your device.
Aside from the great audio quality, here are some Pros and Cons:
+ Easy to set up
+ Easy to conceal due to thin wires
+ Using Android, holding down the main/play/pause button initiates voice commands
+ Ability to pause, play next, and play previous all via the knob
+ Magnetic back plate, which means it's easy to remove and store
+ Knob is very small and discreet
+ Blue light on the knob is not distracting at night
+ Great audio quality
- Blue light on the charger *is* bright and distracting at night (so much so that I had to cover this with black electrical tape)
- Bluetooth cuts out sporadically, but when it does it's very brief and this happens rarely
- Aux and USB are spliced into the same wire, which can make it difficult to work in some setups
- Doesn't feature a battery, meaning it must be plugged in at all times when in use
- Charger does not have an on/off switch, so if your car doesn't cut power to its ports when you shut off the engine, this means you'll likely end up having to remove and reinsert the charger every time you need to use it (this is my biggest complaint), which is tedious and kills a bit of the convenience
I can't speak to the call quality or microphone, as that's not why I bought this so I haven't even used it yet, but it's a great feature to have.
All-in-all I'm very happy with it, and the convenience of wireless (even if, in my case, I've swapped inserting an aux cable for inserting the charger), along with the controls on the unit, well it's one of those things you might not necessarily imagine as having a huge impact on the way you use something, but it certainly does. Really if I could just leave it plugged in and not have to worry about it sapping my car battery (in the winter especially) I'd have no reasonable complaints with it, and for plenty of people this won't even be a problem seeing as a lot of cars disable power to those ports when the engine is shut off.
The rotating spring is a bit too stiff, but you adjust to what pressure to twist it at.
It connects very quickly and it memorizes 2 devices at the same time.
My Chrysler 200 that has Bluetooth Audio has a video/voice lag of about 2 seconds, my roommates Mazda 6 has a lag of about 4 seconds, this device is almost lagless! to the point where the lips are in sync. perfect for watching video for the kids. This was for my wife's BMW 328i that doesn't have any features.
it comes with the device that is a bundle of a USB cable and Aux line, a 12V adapter and 2 double-sided tape (1 already mounted on the magnetic base).
I'm not sure if this device has a stand-by feature, i wish it did, to where you'd need to press the button to turn it back on. luckily, my wife's car turns the USB port off after the car has been turned off for 5 minutes (i use that to power it instead of the 12V port).
Would definitely recommend.
Will add photos soon.
The bluetooth module itself blends perfectly, not only with my current car, but with most other vehicles I've used. Plastic is nice, with a matte finish with just a hint of gloss. Color also blends perfectly, even with the very discrete "chrome" ring it has around the logo, and sublte blue lighting.
The logo itself is also quite discrete, so your car does not look like it has paid advertisement.
The unit seems to be able to amplify the audio a little bit. I had tried a couple of bluetooth to aux adapters before, and all had the same volume level, but once you twist this one clockwise, I really felt an increase in volume.
Unit also comes with a base. You can stick the base wherever you want, and it mates with the main unit via magnet
I would have liked the USB adapter (which has two ports), to be of the mini (flush to the cigarette lighter socket) type.. but since it's removeable, it's easily replaceable.
The only thing I do not like about the unit, is the mic placement. It's too low, and in almost all setups, it will never be anywhere near "aiming" at the user. You have to lower the amp volume and speak loudly to be heard clearly.
I wanted an adapter that had auto-power-on so I could hard-wire it in for automatic connect when the key is turned on. It connects automatically most of the time, but when it doesn't, all you have to do is press the big middle play/pause button once and it will connect. This is way better than the constant manual power cycling I was having to do with other adapters in order to connect.
The audio level is also much higher than other adapters I've used. I don't have to max out my phone's bluetooth volume in order to have a decent level on my car stereo.
The twist for skip forward/back works ok, but its still not my favorite. The one benefit to this design is that it offers a super clean and streamlined look if that is a big concern to you.
