I ordered it on a Friday and was very pleasantly surprised to see it arrive two days later on Sunday!
Upon opening the box, inside were the headset with the silicon ear gel already attached. An additional ear gel piece is included as well as a micro-usb charging cable and car charger.
Pairing the headset was as easy as it can get. Just hold down the power button for a few seconds and then go to the cell phone bluetooth settings and scan for the MPOW. Once found, it paired up easily with my iPhone.
Fitting the MPOW to my ear is similar to how I did it using the Voyager. I can do it with just one had. The fit is snug and comfortable. The silicon ear gel is round, smooth, and soft which does not irritate my ear at all. Compared to the Voyager, the MPOW is more discreet looking mostly because the MPOW does not have the protruding boom mic that the Voyager has.
Performance on the MPOW is good overall. The volume level is actually louder than the Voyager. The clarity of the ear piece is good. However, the microphone performance is not as good as the Voyager. I did a test with a couple of people using the Voyager and the MPOW. My test subjects both agreed that the Voyager did sound clearer probably because it has the boom mic.
However, my test subjects were still able to hear me okay on the MPOW.
The MPOW does stream music just like the Voyager did.
On my iPhone, the MPOW does show remaining battery level. I haven't really tested the endurance of the MPOW's battery. I'm not really confident on it's endurance simply because of how light the MPOW is compared to the Voyager. For now, I can tell you that the headset lasts all day for me without having to recharge it in the middle of the day.
Bottom line, I would definitely buy this model again. I just hope that the rubber neck part doesn't break, or at least not too soon.
I do have some complaints: 1) the included ear pieces are ok. I could wear it for about 2 hours before i began to feel it bother me. I replaced the ear piece with a spare i had for a jabra headset and now it feels perfect. 2) pushing the call button pushes into your ear and the click is a bit loud and a little firm. The location of the button is natural, easy to find and convenient, i would just rather not put the pressure directly onto my ear when hitting it.
Overall, the pros FAR outweigh the cons and i would feel terrible dropping my review to 4 stars considering the price. If i paid $50+ i would definitely give it 4/5 rather than 5/5 at its current $25 price.
The headset is nice and loud (which is perfect compared the the plantronics legend).
It also uses micro usb (versus the dumb proprietary plantronics legend one).
Can play audio and used Bluetooth 4.0
Can connect to 2 devices at once which is awesome.
The Bad and the Ugly:
It does not have an app to indicate batter level or give you the level when you turn it on like the legend did.
The build is very cheap and light weight (does not feel secure)
My unit's audio is not the best quality and sometimes crackles
The ear piece (just like the legend) is WAY too big to actually fit in a person's ear
Mine is not holding a charge and the battery dies within an hour
The music volume level does not adjust with the android and must be changed via the physical buttons
No ability to update the firmware...at all
Mpow's website is lacking with no online manual
Customer service has not been impressive
So far I'm not impressed and will return it if their customer support does not get back to me with a replacement ASAP. My next choice is to try to find another low profile, LOUD, small, over the ear design bluetooth headset. So far I'm stumped as to which one I should get though... Any suggestions people?
Their customer support got back to me after this negative review (like most companies today who move faster when negative reviews are written) so I increased my rating by another star because they at least got back to me and did send me another bluetooth headset. The new one still only has a battery life of one hour which is extremely poor and still has switching issues where it jumps between the phone and the headset mid-way through a phone call which is extremely annoying. I still like the loud sound level and price but at this point I would be willing to pay more for a better quality headset...
