I purchased this to use with Torque(free)on Android. Many of the sensor readings as well as my fuel gauge do not register using Torque free version so I am hesitant to purchase the paid version. However while i have only used it a few days this dongle has performed flawlessly for me. The vehicle I use it on is a 2002 Hyundai XG350. Speed, coolant temps, GPS logs, etc.. all worked as expected so it is not this device but rather the compatibility of Torque with my vehicle.

Update:

Okay, this dongle is failing to communicate with my phone far too frequently. My Samsung Galaxy S3 is mounted just above my console therefore with a clear
line of sight to this OBD-ii adapter and about 2 feet(0.6 meter) apart. I am not using Torque Pro now and the option for Adapter Information warned me that it was a sub quality adapter and to ensure I retained warranty information and the receipt. I doubt I return it but will purchase an American Made quality adapter as recommended by Torque. They have a list of recommended adapters if you care to research it yourselves. When I am driving I don't want to be fumbling with this thing to re-establish the connection.

2nd Update:

While I cannot depend on it to always connect it does so with ease about 90% of the time and does so with delay the remainder of the time. For my purpose and the price I am satisfied with this adapter overall. If I ever need another I may pay the extra to get a more reliable one but would recommend it now if you can live with the bit of extra effort.

3rd Update:

For whatever reason this bluetooth adapter consistently performs without issue and has for a long time.

This thing is awesome. I plugged it in and downloaded torque pro on android. I started with the free version then after a few minutes I upgraded. all in all I spent about 16 bucks and I have a scanner that is more capable than the 200 dollar mini scanners and it actually puts them to shame. I am a mechanic and use a lot of higher end scanners well over the 5 grand mark. They have their finer qualities which I appreciate on a really difficult diag but any mechanic that is honest will tell you that 98 percent of diagnostics are simple sensor issues that are pretty obvious to catch. Which means I use this constantly and the modis and the pegasys can sit on the shelf.
If you are mechanic, buy this. If you are a shade tree mechanic, buy it. If you like to fiddle with your own cars, buy it.
if you even remotely have an inkling of a desire to buy this, BUY IT. Worth the money and alot of fun.
you can create several different screens to monitor different things as well.

I haven't previously owned any ODB2 bluetooth connectors, but when I saw mini I thought it would be smaller. It appears smaller than others pictured, but it is still large. It's probably around 3 inches in length. Just make sure if you have it plugged in while driving it won't interfere with your feet as you move them around. You may want to consider a 90 degree adapter that will allow you to place the unit in an out-of-the-way location. That said, the size isn't that bad. On my '09 MINI JCW it is mostly out of the way. I hit it with my foot occasionally. On our '12 Honda Odyssey it sits high enough that it hasn't been an issue.

I've used the Torque Pro (and free) app with this ODB2 adapter. It works wonderfully. I've been running the Torque app with the faster communication setting enabled and it works great. I have tested this on an '09 MINI JCW, '12 Honda Odyssey, and a 1999 Dodge minivan. I wasn't able to get it to clear codes on the Dodge, but I only tried twice. After reading around on the 'net it seems like different vehicles have differing methods of clearing codes. Look up the method for your vehicle if using the clear function doesn't work right off the bat.

I can't say enough how powerful this device is with the Torque app for Android devices! It makes other ODB2 scanning products look very, very overpriced. All-in-all very happy with the price and functionality of this device! Would give it 5 stars if it was a bit smaller so my foot wouldn't hit it when I move from the rest position to the clutch in my MINI.

Tried three different apps, including the recommended Torque app. Won't connect to my Android tablet. While the red power LED does light up and it pairs with the tablet, all three apps failed to communicate with the device.

I was hesitant to buy one of these elm devices because there are so many variants. Well I decided on this one and I'm am beyond impressed with it. It was easy to to setup and use. The only trip up was it required a pin number to pair the Bluetooth to my tablet. It happened to be 1234 lol. But I would suggest this device to anyone that wants to monitor live feedback from a obd2 vehicle.

Got one of these to compare to my BAFX unit. A lot of people on forums I hang out on recommend this one because its cheap. The good to bad review ratio is pretty worrisome on this product, but the one I received does work. However, it's quite a bit slower than my BAFX. It takes a really long time to connect to my phone, and then my car, while the BAFX reader connects in seconds.

I also had more problems with disconnects while using it. The BAFX model rarely lost its connection, and always quickly reconnected. While this one was also pretty good about staying connected, when it did disconnect, it took a long time to reconnect.

Based on my comparison of the two, I'd recommend you skip this one and get the BAFX Products 34t5 Bluetooth OBDII Scan Tool. It's worth the higher price. If you really want to cheap-out, though, this one does work (at least the one I received).
