This is a very nice shield--it is nicely constructed with good board layout, useful connectors and pinouts, and no sloppy solider joints. It fits well, and the instructions available at seeedstudio.com are very helpful, if not quite perfectly translated English. I got this shield up and running on a Arduino Mega 2560 in about 10 minutes, after connecting it to the proper serial RX/TX as instructed.

Paired well with my Mac running 10.7. This is not a shortcoming of the shield, but just be aware that Apple iOS (iPad, iPod, iPhone) will not pair with this shield because of Apple's restrictions. It does pair easily with a Samsung device running Android.

I wanted to use this board to transmit data at a 1kHz rate, but board could not keep up with the speed I wanted. The fastest I could get it to transmit was every 170ms. Without that data rate, the board was pretty much useless to me.

Because I was having this issue, I thought I could look for support online. Turns out the only support Seeed offers is a wiki page that only describes how to set it up. I had no problem with the setup. It actually worked well. However when I implemented it on a project of my own, the thing was useless.

Unless you are ONLY using a master/slave application (where the Arduino only reacts to a master inquiring for data), STAY AWAY FROM THIS THING!

Unlike the picture, what showed up was an unassembled board that required soldering to put it together. There is also a jumper that comes but no information on why.

I have been (trying) to use this shield for a week now. This device will not pair with the following:
Acer Aspire One
Samsung Galaxy S II
Google Nexus S 4G
Microsoft Surface Pro

It did pair with an old windows XP netbook I had, but I could only send data one way (from the arduino to the computer, not the other way around)

Also, the tutorials that SeedStudio provides for this shield do not work. The code they provide actually does no even compile. Will be returning this product and buying a different bluetooth shield if possible.

This is a very nice shield! I didn't realize this until after I ran into a jam and thought about disconnecting the bluetooth thing and using it separately. Through the google machine, I found out all the info I needed. The Tx and Rx ports are easily changed in the code and on the shield thru jumpers, do thru d7, I don't know why I didn't notice it before. It is really easy so the other shields you stack on top are more compatable, such as a motor shield. More info is found

I was really hoping to get started on several projects with this shield, but much to my disappointment, I found it was not discoverable from either my HTC Inspire or my iPad. Bummer.
