Worked great! I think I downloaded five different programs to my lenovo tablet before I found one that I liked and had lots of options. There are a TON of programs out there on the android market!! Ironically it took the fourth setup code before I connected to it. I did have one or two programs it couldn't connect to.
NOTE!!: UNPLUG it and then plug it back in if you are trying different programs!! If you don't then it won't reset and you will think the software you downloaded doesn't work!
The unit is very compact and low profile. I think I might install a little tablet stand in my truck and leave it plugged in all the time! I am using this on a 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA.
I bought this in a rush thinking I had an idiot light on the dash and was paranoid I had a transmission problem! With the right software it told me I had no error codes and that the last error code was reset 40k miles ago. (If I had read the manual for the truck, which I wound up having to do, I would have realized that idiot light was to tell me the oil was overdue to be changed. Apparently when I bought it a few months ago the ford dealership changed the oil but didn't reset the counter. They didn't know either! He he).

The last program I used was OBD Car Doctor, its mostly text based but LOTS of data options! Torque (free) was another, lots of graphical GUI goodies but a bit less to work with, at least the free version. I'm going to try a LOT more programs and will update when I do.

I purchased this item to work in my 2001 Porsche Boxster S. This particular version had been tested on some other websites as being compatible with my car, so this is the one I selected. I also bought the Torque Pro app for Android. I was able to get this dongle working in seconds. The bluetooth key is 1234, if you don't have that info elsewhere. The OBD2 port in the Porsche is right below the driver's left knee. The dongle is not in the way and is tucked out of sight. The Torque Pro app locked right onto the adapter and worked exactly as advertised - I was able to read fault codes and get real time data out of the car right away. I'm very pleased with all of the functionality I have for such a small investment.

Claimed to be ELM327 1.5v but was unable to process ELM 327 AT Commands past version 1.4, this omitted 1.4b commands. From my research this appears to be typical clone behavior. I cannot recommend this product to anyone unless you do the research and know it will work in your vehicel. I opted for a dedicated hand tool since they "just" work.

It is a mini dbd reader yes and does work however if you plan to use this as I did with say Torque and leave the device plugged in all the time think again. Has pairing issues constantly. I continuously have to disconnect this device not just from the android software in this case Torque but from the car as well. Wouldn't be a big deal I guess if it wasn't a mini adapter. My car has a sort of guard or support in the dash going to the connector. This makes removing the device a struggle... every time. They give you pair codes however the device never pairs just is shown as available. You can't just disconnect and reconnect to the device you have to actually remove it from android device and then search again for once reconnected to the vehicle. So if you plan on using this as a mini adapter that can stay plugged in and read data at your leisure then don't get this one. If you just want an adapter and don't mind figuring out some way to disconnect it cause it ain't easy then by all means get this one. I will be purchasing a replacement unit. That's how much I enjoy having this adapter.

Probably will not work for older vehicles; definitely did not work with vehicles using OBD-II J-series protocols (Chevrolet).

They need to list which protocols this adapter supports. It works with Torque Pro almost automatically with a Sony Experia phone and Nexus 7 tablet and supports fast read mode for both devices on a 2008 BMW 3 series (ISO/CAN), but doesnt work at all on a 2006 Chevrolet truck (J-series protocol). IIRC from other people, they cut corners on this one and don't support all protocols (just seemingly support newer protocols). Buyer beware. I bought another one identical to this except for slight price and packaging, and the results were the same.

I have been using this product for a while now and have no complaints. It has not failed me and only once or twice have I had to resync my phone.
I would say the most important part of this is to get good software to use it with. A good Android product is Torque (it is available free for those that don't need the Pro version, I don't), I have used it without problems.
It reads all the info coming from the car available over ODB II, with the right software it can put that on a display for you. It allows you to view/clear check engine codes.

This thing is fantastic. The hardest part is finding the OBD2 port on the car. This device has a very strong signal and is very quiet. Now it does not work by itself. You need to have a bluetooth enabled device and a program that can connect to this sensor. I am using my android and an app called Torque. My car does not have a RPM guage, so I was very excited to see one on my phone. My next plan is to upgrade the head unit of the car into a mini-pc and connect this to the computer so I can record live data.

I highly recommend this to anyone who is even the slightest bit interested in what goes on in their car.
