When Jimmy Buffett eventually becomes the subject of a college course--and given his enduring popularity as a singer-songwriter and author, you know he will someday--here's what'll be on the final exam. Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads is so named because the four-CD collection divides Buffett's collected works among those categories, giving each disc a theme. From early classics such as "Biloxi" and "Come Monday" to more recent fare known only by the Parrothead cognoscenti, this set is the perfect accompaniment to a cool drink and a hammock on a summer afternoon. What kind of cool drink? Well, that'll be on the final, too. --Daniel Durchholz

After listening to each CD at least twice... I think all the tracks are a very good round up of the artist.
With one or two pieces that I hadn't heard before too.
There were quite a few tracks I hadn't heard since listening on vinyl.
Very HAPPY to add these albums to my collection - because it's Buffett... when he was at his best.
Buffett offers not just music but a zany, sunny, over-the-top lifestyle option. 'Boats, Beaches..'is a stunning project which chronicles the way in which this sub-culture has evolved.
Buffett could have been an unknown country singer had he not discovered salt water. Basing himself in Key West, Buffett bought a yacht and cruised away to adventure in the Caribbean and far beyond. His songs record these adventures, the thrills, spills and emotions of a unique way of life. The songs become old friends that all 'parrotheads' (as JB fans are known) can never tire of hearing, each an evocation of where you were when you first heard the latest installment on the 'coconut telegraph'.The range is huge, from Caribbean-influenced partying to the philosophy that comes to you on a warm beach at twilight. But JB is never, never boring.
'Boats, beaches...' gives you a crash-course, enabling you to make up the two decades of fun that you've missed if JB has hitherto passed you by. For parrotheads and newcomers alike, it's a must.
Es ist sehr schade das Jimmy Buffett bei uns in Deutschland so wenig bekannt ist.
