This review is about "Bob's Burgers" season 3 and "Archer" season 4. Earlier seasons do not contain ads. If not paying for commercials is important to you too, I would suggest checking ALL of FOX'S titles before purchasing. If the episode description states that the length of an episode is longer than 22 mins. then you are paying premium prices for tainted material. Example; "Family Guy","American Dad","The Cleavland Show" and even "The Simpsons" current seasons shows a running time of 24 mins. per episode. That means you're paying $1.99 to $2.99 for an episode that is almost 10% ADVERTISING!!! Even if that only totaled 2 min. per episode, if you download 30 episodes that is a total of at least 1 HOUR of FOX ADS TAKING UP ROOM ON YOUR HARD DRIVE! Don't forget that sometimes you're stuck with almost 4 mins. of ads per episode.
I really like this show. 5 STARS for Bob's Burgers!!!
1 STAR for FOX for tacking on commercials both at the BEGINING AND ENDS of EACH EPISODE!!! I ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU SHOW ON YOUR NETWORK. I WATCH THE SHOWS I LIKE. IF I REALLY LIKE THEM I BUY THEM! Do you know why? SO I DON'T HAVE TO WATCH THEM WITH COMMERCIALS!!!
If they keep doing this I will have no choice but to STOP buying FOX television episodes. After all, what's the use of spending good money on a product that itself completely negates the reason for buying it in the first place?
I really enjoy the shows "Archer" & "Bob's Burgers" and WAS purchasing the episodes as they were made available. It's great to program Media Player to run an entire season or even the entire series non-stop. I didn't mind too much paying up to $2.99 per episode because the shows are great and episodes don't have ads.
Now at the begining of each episode they have ads that run aprox. 30 seconds and at the end of the episodes they run up to 3 minutes or more. This leaves somtimes almost 4 min. of ads running between episodes.
Needless to say I canceled any TV Passes for these FX programs and will not purchase any more of their products until the ads are removed. Since you can't return digital downloads OR get your money back it would be VERY NICE if FX would update their downloadable products to NOT INCLUDE COMMERCIALS and allow their victims to DOWNLOAD THE PRODUCT WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IN THE FIRST PLACE !!!
"Bob's Burgers" & "Archer" episodes - 4 to 5 stars
The fact your also paying for commercials - Don't tempt me
Not only is every episode of Season 3 of Bob's well crafted, but so are the shorter Seasons 1 & 2. (Spoilers: if the recent Emmy win was no indication, yes, Season 4, just as long as 3, is also spectacular) It's clear the same amount of love (for each other AND comedy) that exudes from the Belchers, Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene, and Louise matches that of the show's creators. There's just no other way of saying it, plain and simple, that Bob's Burgers, at least thus far, is a REALLY good show.
So...... why four stars?
The show itself deserves nothing but praise and I hope I delivered in expressing that belief. However, as many reviews have made it clear in the past, nothing can be said to justify this UNHOLY DVD collection. Printed by Amazon itself, which I SUPPOSE is appreciated, Season 3 of Bob's Burgers has been hastily slapped into fragile DVD-R's slapped into an even more fragile DVD cases, and shipped with ZERO SPECIAL FEATURES!!! Absolutely nothing!!! Nothing but a fabulous show, but still, NOTHING! Call me crazy, but typically DVD's in the past justified their still being with the allure of some incentives for purchasing a show you've previously seen and can continue to see for free.
Yes, not even a single commentary, made it's way to the DVD, and it's a shame to say the very least. With such a spectacular show, you'd expect some insight as to how they make it so, but alas. So why did I purchase this product, with that knowledge? Well, "vote with your money," as they say. I chose to purchase the DVD in spite of special features to prove, if just by a tiny percentage, that Bob's Burgers DOES have a following, people to cater too. I purchased with the insane hopes of better purchases in the future.
This show now more than ever deserves all the support it can get. However, unless there are no other means with which for you to support Bob's Burger's I won't tell you to buy the DVD. Netflix account? You can support Bob's Burgers. HuluPlus? You can support Bob's Burgers. Amazon Prime? You can support Bob's Burgers.
This tale of a as down-to-earth as he is on luck restaurateur and his loving, albeit eccentric family and the many adventures they have inside and outside the titular restaurant is, in the end, worth seeing however possible, DVD not necessary.
When purchasing this, make sure you pay attention to the fact that this product is a DVD-R. Similar to season 2, you will not find this DVD in stores because amazon burns/records the DVDs upon order. The artwork on the cover and back (which truly is not the most important thing) are horrible. They look like a high school project for a film class. They are pixilated and appear to have been printed on an every-day printer. Even more frustrating, the image and sound quality of the DVD recordings are not good. The episodes play grainy, appearing as if it is simply a bootleg copy you bought from a scammer on eBay. I believe this show deserves a lot more than this DVD-R quality. Comparing season 1's DVD (which are not DVD-R) with season 2 and 3 really highlights the difference in quality.
