The Bodum Jumbo Ceylon 3.0 liter Iced Tea Jug is great for all occasions, during hot summers as well as cold winters! Made of see-through BPA-free plastic, the Ceylon makes brewing iced tea simple and easy. Bodum has been producing the Ceylon Iced Tea Maker for years in a 1.5 l, 51 oz capacity. After requests from consumers for a larger size version we are happy to launch this new 3.0 l, 102 oz version offering twice the capacity of our original Ceylon. The ease of use is the same, now you just get more of your favorite iced tea. The Ceylon allows you to easily make delicious, natural iced tea, giving you the freedom of choosing favorite ingredients. Simply add your preferred tea leaves into the removable filter and fill it half way with hot water. Allow the tea to brew to your liking and then remove the filter to stop the brewing process. Fill the rest of the pitcher with ice and after just one minute you are ready to serve fresh iced tea. In addition to iced tea, the Ceylon can be used for all kinds of delicious infused drinks like orange juice with mint leaves, sangria with lots of fruit slices or ice water with cucumber or lime slices. The filter system is removable allowing the Ceylon to double as a nice pitcher. The lid includes a screening filter to help prevent particulates from flowing into your cup. For best results we recommend hand washing the Ceylon Ice Tea Makers. Instructions and recipe suggestions included. The oval design helps this pitcher to fit easily in the refrigerator. Made in Poland.
Tea lovers can enjoy their favorite beverage year-round and in ample quantities with this Bodum Ceylon jumbo iced-tea maker. Designed to brew and pour with the same container, the Ceylon features a removable filter so you can steep tea to your exact preference. This means iced tea is ready quickly and tastes great, and it works with loose leaf or bagged teas. Thanks to its clever design, the Ceylon also doubles as an infusing pitcher, allowing you to add citrus or herbal flavors to water, juice, or punch. With a generous 102-ounce capacity, the pitcher keeps you in iced tea all afternoon and should be washed by hand for best results. A trimmer 51-ounce version is also available. --Emily Bedard

You can clean the internal filter by placing it flat on the top rack of the dishwasher, but don't do it often, or it'll crack. Expect and understand that it's plastic, and thus tea staining will occur over time. Personally, I don't use loose tea, as the holes are a bit big for that. I put tea bags in the "filter", then pour a kettle-full of boiling water in. Once it's ready, I pull the filter out, then toss in sugar, ice, and tap water.
The first of these pitchers I destroyed because I did not read the instructions. I filled the whole thing up with hot water. It ended up with cracks. keep in mind that this was after two years of this abuse.
I have since learned that you should only fill it up half way with hot water. I intend to treat my new pitcher with more TLC.
I bought the third pitcher for a friend who came over for lunch and loved the iced/tea infused with Cucumber, Oranges, Strawberries, and Mint that I'd placed in the infuser side.
I've found that if you really want the fruit and herb flavors to combine nicely, it helps to let it sit in the fridge for 24-48 hours. Fruit et cetera gets a little icky after 4 days.
The reason for 3 stars is all because of the insert - it does have flanges in slides into, but if you don't have anything in it it will start floating out as you add water. Silly. But the big thing is the holes in it are nowhere near suitable for filtering, They strain, they do not filter.
Saying it's a good "infuser" is acceptable. Saying it's suitable for loose leaf teas is an outright dishonesty.
Warning: Do not use boiling water in it. I warped my first one by not paying attention to the water temp. When the water is steaming is when it's the right heat to pour over the loose tea. Then let it steep for a bit and you've got great tea. You can also use the insert to hold fruit for flavored waters or drinks. We drink a lot of peppermint tea around here, as it needs no sweetner and it's great for your tummy as it's a natural analgesic and aids in digestion. We make ours pretty strong and just add more water along with the ice.
