The Bodum Pavina Double Wall Glasses are individually handmade by expert artisans. Because this glass is mouth-blown, each one may have slight differences in height, thickness and weight. Bodum Pavinas help keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold because of the thermal effect of the double wall. The double wall also prevents condensation and excess heat from reaching your hands. Please use care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. We suggest adding the liquid first and then the ice. Please also avoid using metal spoons or placing the glass into a crowded dishwasher. For optimal heat retention, pre-heat the glass before adding hot liquids. Dishwasher and microwave safe.

But, does that stop me from ordering more?
Oh, HELL no!
Once you use these glasses, you're spoiled forever.
But...do NOT hold these glasses under the refrigerator ice dispensor...the falling ice will break the glass.
Do NOT let anyone touch your glass because they will put the glass down on the counter top the wrong way and it will break.
Never, ever, leave your glass where someone can touch it because they will break the glass just by looking at it.
When you are done using the glass...hand wash the glass and hide it where no one knows where it is because .....if somone sees the glass on a shelf, it will break instantly.
I love these glasses and I order two boxes at a time.
I always have a spare locked away....
At about $10 a piece, I am disappointed in how easily they break. I've had normal cheapy wal-mart glasses break - IF THEY WERE DROPPED ON THE FLOOR! :P When these break we often were left scratching our heads as to why they were broken. I think my wife dropped one while she was washing it from a height of about 4-6 inches in the sink and it cracked. One of the 8 ounce cups I pulled out of the cupboard and discovered a small crack had formed at the top rim of the glass. At the time, I still drank from it (being careful to drink from the side opposite the crack) and then threw the glass away knowing that it would likely continue to crack and break - just wasn't worth the risk ending up with broken glass in my mouth. The others, I don't recall what happened. None were dropped to the floor, however.
So, after about a year, a 33% break rate. My wife doesn't really care for them, so I'm the only one who uses them. I think she's too afraid of breaking them.
What they do have going for them is they keep my coffee hot to the last sip. I preheat the glass before I put my coffee in it using hot water and letting it sit for a minute or so. The glass (and the air gap) absorbs the heat from the water so that when I put my coffee in the glass, none of the heat from the coffee is lost to warm up the glass.Read more ›
I immediately ordered another set. They are pricey at $15 per glass but I thought if they last 10 years and only break due to "user" error, then, fine.
What a disappointment! The glasses look the same, feel the same but they are now manufactured in China and made with a plug in the bottom (the older ones are sealed). Within a very short time, both glasses broke in exactly the same way - the second one after 3 or 4 uses. A roundish piece of glass in the lower part of the inner glass broke - really sort of self-destructed. No user error, no nothing.
I sent an email to Bodum US but didn't get a reply. It seems this must be a serious manufacturing flaw and or much lower quality in the glass.
Bad quality and non-responsiveness from Bodum has turned a lover of their products into someone who will never buy them again and who won't recommend them.

This one is the real deal. Very well-made product. I've owned others made in China, which chipped and cracked after a few months. Read morePublished 1 day ago by Sharry Lachman

Didn't hold up long, the originals without the silicon plug held up much better. These break with a slight bump against any hard surface.Published 26 days ago by Charles Marchese
