The Brazil French Press coffee maker, designed in the early 80's, was our first coffee maker and quickly became a symbol of what Bodum stands for. Attractive and functional design at an affordable price. The Brazil has an ultra-light, heat-resistant borosilicate glass beaker and a plastic handle and base, which make the Brazil easy to use and easy to clean. The 3-part stainless steel plunger has a fine mesh filter, which allows for a premium extraction of your coffees aromatic oils and subtle flavors. A mesh filter allows this flavor to be delivered direct to your cup and not absorbed by a paper filter. Plus, no paper filter means no waste. The patented safety lid prevents the splashing of liquids while pressing. All parts are dishwasher safe. This 3-cup coffeemaker is (.35 l, 12 oz.) in size and is also available in 8-cup (1.0 l, 34 oz) size model.

Seems fairly sturdy. Have used it for a month now with no issues. I like that it is surrounded by plastic, so even if it tips over, the glass is still protected. The inside is glass so does not erode from the 12-24 hr cold brew time. The plunger/strainer is stainless so seems to be holding up well to the effects of the coffee acid. The top pour lip/strainer is plastic, but the coffee only comes in contact with it briefly when pouring.
This French press works perfectly for me. I'm a coffee snob and just can't drink the coffee provided at work. I use my press at work, and I'm toying with the idea of buying another to use at home. Coffee made in the press is so delicious.
I wanted a small press because I only want to drink one cup. Even if I wanted two cups, I would want to make a fresh second cup. It specifies in the product description that it makes a 12oz cup, and that is accurate. This press is insanely cute and takes up very little space when stores in my desk drawer.
The glass is plenty thick and the handle stays on secured. The strainer prevents any grounds from pouring into my cup.
Wouldn't change a thing, love this press.
1. JUST PRIOR TO BOILING WATER 2. FILL WATER TO 3/4( TWO 10 OZ CUPS) STIR WITH PLASTIC OR WOODEN SPOON ,PUT COVER ON WAIT 5 MIN. PUSH DOWN PLUNGER,THAT'S IT.
HAVE TRIED ALL TYPES OF COFFEE.
TRIED A NUMBER DIFFERENT MAKERS, THIS ONE REALLY WELL MADE, WHITE LOOKS GREAT
MARKET BASKET COFFEE BEANS TASTE GREAT $7.00 LB
BUY BEANS, FRESHER , COURSE GROUND ONLY ( SO COFFEE GROUNDS WON'T GO THROUGH FILTER AS MUCH.)
If you want more than one mug of coffee, get the bigger press. It does fill up my drive to work smallish insulated mug to the top, so it is not completely useless. Use an 8 cup press for home use, and then use the 3cup to fill up an insulated drive to work mug. [i'm always finding a silver lining in questionable purchases]
Initially I searched for "shatter-proof" but then discovered they were all not made of glass so I abandoned that idea. Eventually I came back to the one I had broken which is this product. Price has gone up significantly over the years (I remember I paid $10 for it back then) but I understand part if it is just inflation.
I am happy to report the build quality and fit are still as I remembered it with the previous product. As a test, I used the plunger from the original press in the new glass beaker - and the fit is exactly the same.
All in all, I am satisfied and happy with this product.
I use the press as an personal office coffee pot, permanently kept at my cubicle. It makes exactly one mug of coffee so it's the perfect size. I have noticed that the longer I have the press, the more likely the grinds are to make it into my coffee, but that doesn't usually happen for several months (and frankly could be more closely related to my terrible grinder). This press reliably makes me an excellent cup of coffee to start my morning work day-the perfect alternative to spending money each morning or developing an ulcer from the swill in the kitchen. It's been worth every penny the three times I've bought it, and I'll buy it a fourth time when I inevitably break my third.
