The Brazil 51-ounce French press coffee maker incorporates the Bodum motto beautifully: good design doesn't have to be expensive. After all, we want to give everybody a chance to brew an excellent cup of coffee in the greenest way possible: just hot water and course ground coffee, steep for 4 minutes and press the plunger to stop the brewing process. No waste, just taste. The New Brazil is also available in a 12-ounce and 34-ounce size model. The French press comes in black, orange, purple, red, green, and white. Replacement carafes are available for purchase in all sizes. Dishwasher safe.

Even though this says 3 cups, you should be aware that is slightly less than 1 mug. French press manufacturers must measure coffee in teacups for little girls. For me that is a good thing. I don't mind brewing my second mug because it is always fresh and hot.
I tried a french press years ago and did not like it. I like strong coffee and they didn't seem capable. I finally switched from coarse ground coffee to a fine grind and added lots more grounds. That is probably why I still get some dregs in my cup. I am very happy with my purchase and would gladly buy it again if something happened to this one.
Just a word of advice: measure out two cups (minus grinds and "dead" space at the top, you have about two useable cups) and pour it into your favorite morning beverage container. Two Imperial cups = 1 American cup of coffee. So, if that's all you drink in the morning, this is an excellent product. If (like me) you drink 3 or 4 American sized cups of coffee in the morning, it's kind of a pain to keep heating water, letting it steep, etc for each cup...
* Coarse ground (good) coffee. I grind enough for a regular 12-cup drip pot.
* Put that in french press.
* Fill with cold filtered water (I get mine from the fridge)
* Put the lid on, push the plunger halfway in (it's the only way it'll fit in the fridge).
* Put it in the fridge
* Wait impatiently for 36-48 hours.
* Take out of the fridge, plunge it, pour it into another container, clean the press, rinse, repeat.
The quality of this french press is very nice. I've found the plastic parts to be very thick and sturdy, and the glass carafe is very nice. There's a good instruction manual included if you don't know how to make french press coffee, and it even comes with a scoop marked with measurements for you.
Cleaning is easy - after dumping the coffee grounds, just add a bit of dishsoap and put the plunger back in and agitate it up and down, then rinse. I was surprised that with the plunger halfway down, you can turn this upside down and it will actually hold the water in the lower half! Nice quality.
All in all, if you are looking for a nice quality french press for a single serve coffee, this is definitely the one for you. If you are making coffee for 2 people or more, consider Bodum's larger size model. For me? This suits me perfect!
UPDATE: Press section pops off the spindle and it hasn't been that long since I purchased the press. 1 star, it should last longer than this.
The wire mesh screen is slightly undersized, and does not wrap as far around the edge of the plunger as it does on the 8-cup. Additionally, the glass body widens slightly at the bottom. This causes the edge of the filter to drag on the glass when the plunger is pulled out, sometimes inverting the screen, and over time, causing the screen to crease. This is then resulting in an even worse seal at the edges, with coffee grounds leaking past the screen when the plunger is pushed in.
I asked Bodum for a replacement screen that fit properly, their response was to return it to Amazon. Unfortunately, from experience, I know that this would just result in Amazon sending it to another unsuspecting customer.
