Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker
The Pour Over promises excellent, rich taste and robust aroma while maintaining the natural oils of the ground coffee. Made in Europe!
Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker with Permanent Filter, 1.0 l, 34 oz., Black
The pour over brew method features a fine mesh stainless steel filter that eliminates need for paper filters. Paper filters actually absorb the coffee's essential oils hence robbing coffee of true flavor, plus no paper filter mean no waste! Available in a variety of colors.
How to brew coffee with our manual pour over coffee maker:
Add coarse ground coffee into reusable filter.
Pour a small amount of heated water in circular motion over the ground coffee until soaked.
Slowly pour the remaining hot water into the filter.
Coffee will drip into the mouth-blown, borosilicate glass carafe and in 3-4 minutes will be ready to serve.
Remove the filter from the carafe before serving and enjoy!
The POUR OVER promises excellent, rich taste and robust aroma while maintaining the natural oils of the ground coffee. For the perfect cup of coffee, simply fill the cone-shaped filter with freshly ground coffee and pour a small amount of heated water over them until soaked. Slowly pour the remaining hot water into the filter. Coffee will drip into the mouth-blown, borosilicate glass carafe and, in 3-4 minutes, will be ready to serve. Remove the filter from the carafe before serving and enjoy!

I have none of that, but I do have this thing, and I have one of those whirring spinning grinders (you know, the ones that, in the quest for pebbles, you get boulders and powder). And I have a bag of whatever coffee beans I got at the grocery store last week. And I have a stove and a sauce pan that makes a mean batch of hot water. And I pour about half a pan of not-boiling-anymore water over 'some' coffee grounds... and you know, this thing makes some good coffee. It's like french press, without all the sediment (mind you, I use a paper filter too, which helps filter out the unpleasantries).
As for the product itself, I mean there's not much to say. Big glass thing, plasticy-thing that wraps around it so you don't burn yourself while trying to pour it, and it comes with a permanent filter and coffee measuring spoon, so you can inaccurately measure your coffee beans or grounds. Working as designed.
While I do not like the reusable metal mesh filter on its own (the end result is a coffee that brews way too fast and has a more French Press-esque consistency), #2 filters fit in there just fine and my coffee game is back on point (Hario makes some good ones that cost half as much as the Chemex filters). SO, this thing costs about half as much as a Chemex, is sturdier, and makes coffee that is just as good with filters that cost half as much (or nothing at all if you're cool with the reusable one)!
This creates a nice amount of coffee, enough for at least four medium sized cups. Cleaning and removal of the leather cord and cork are easy, you just have to get used to how it fits together. His only issue is that it doesn't keep his coffee hot (obviously). But we pre-heat the glass with hot water before brewing, use a cork coaster during the brew, and then switch over to a hot plate afterwards. It's a nice addition to our brewing collection.
