Do you have 4 minutes?
The French press coffee maker is the simplest of all brewing systems, where coarsely ground beans meet hot water right off the boil. The right temperature (92–96 °C, 195–205 °F) brings the optimal extraction power for the essential oils in the beans to develop their full flavor profile in just four minutes. An easy press on the plunger locks the grinds at the bottom of the glass carafe and stops the brewing process.
- Body, handle, & lid made of BPA free plastic
- Beaker is made of heat resistant borosilicate glass
- Filter & plunger is made of stainless steel
- Brews & makes delicious coffee
- Available in Black & White
- Made in Portugal
Caffettiera French Press Collection
The Caffettiera coffee maker incorporates the Bodum's motto beautifully: good design doesn't have to be expensive. Just hot water and ground coffee is all that's needed. And that's all that coffee lovers are left with too, no waste, just taste.
How to brew French press coffee:
For each 4-ounce cup, put 1 rounded tablespoon or 1 Bodum scoop of coarse-ground coffee into the pot.
Pour hot (not boiling) water into the pot. Leave a minimum of 1 inch of space at the top. Stir with a plastic spoon.
Place the plunger unit on top of the pot. Turn lid to close off the pour spout opening. Do not press down. Let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.
After 4 minutes press down the plunger and enjoy.

You MUST remove the glass receptacle if you want to microwave the water. The "new" classic orange Bodum has metal in both the handle and the skeleton. Therefore, the glass receptacle spins around on the microwave table with less stability, then, when done, you must pick up the heated glass near the top and re-insert into the metal skeleton.
You MUST slightly bend the four skeleton rails toward the center in order to grip the glass receptacle. Otherwise, the glass receptacle will fall out once you begin pouring the coffee out of it. You don't have this problem at all the one-piece versions. (Note: there was no instruction on how to do this, either.)
You MUST line up the filter built into the plastic cap before pouring. The newer models only allow one position which keeps the cap filter lined for proper pouring up at all times.
So, if you like the classic look, the new bold colors are nice. However, for me, I like the speed and conveniences of the newer models much more. As far as I'm concerned, a french press is the best way to prepare coffee, too!
