Bodum Bistro Electric Burr Coffee Grinder
The Bodum Bistro Electric Burr Coffee Grinder with adjustable grind is our premier coffee grinder.
Our conical burr crushes beans as opposed to slicing them (with your typical blade grinder); ensuring consistency, while preserving the bean’s intrinsic flavor and aroma.
This burr grinder is continuously adjustable - twisting the upper bean container determines how finely ground the beans will be. 12 settings from coarse to fine, you can deliver the ideal grind for any brewing method.
The Bistro coffee grinder comes with a static-free borosilicate glass container with rubberized grip to catch and safely transfer the grounds while preventing 'jumping' coffee grounds.
Lid For Hopper
Multi-function Lid will keep beans fresh and provides built-in measuring guide.
Line up the size and type of your brew, and your ideal grind setting and time will ensure the perfect grind, every time.
The conical stainless steel burr grinder provides a consistent grind with no sharpening required.
The catcher is made of anti-static borosilicate glass so the fine coffee grounds don’t cling to it.
The silicone band around the grinder body prevents slipping and allows for a firm grip.

The BISTRO Electric Burr Grinder comes with an attractive, static-free borosilicate glass PRESSO container that conveniently sits within the base of the unit to collect ground coffee during use and also features a non-slip silicone band for secure handling. The BISTRO Electric Burr Grinder is made from borosilicate glass, steel, plastic, rubber and silicone.

After about 14 months (not even being used every day, maybe 5-6 grinds a week), one of the plastic drive gears broke. See my picture above. It started making a horrible noise, then bits of the gear fell out on to my counter.
Bodum does not sell replacement parts, so in the trash it goes. I tried emailing their US support & they never responded.
Replaced it with a Baratza Encore, which isn't as flashy but is much better built, and has motor thermal protection.
It arrived and I set it up--very simple, looked good. Then I read the instructions--my paraphrase: "After 20 seconds of grinding (the maximum period) allow it to stand for 5 minutes so that the grinding motor will not overheat. Then you may grind again--up to a maximum of 20 seconds, etc."
I set the machine to "fine" and selected "20 seconds." It ground 6 grams. I didn't believe it!
I waited 5 minutes and did another 20 second grind. It produced 7 grams!
I want a grinder which produces at least 60 grams for a breakfast brew,
THIS MACHINE IS A TOY FOR DOLL COFFEE PARTIES, NOT A COFFEE GRINDER FOR HUMANS.
I'm returning it today.

Here's a cleaning TIP I saw on YouTube: After cleaning and reassembling the unit, grind 2-3 tablespoons of Minute Rice through it. The rice kernels do a great job of cleaning out any remaining grounds around the burr gears. I imagine this trick would work for any burr grinder.
Edit July 12th : I've dropped the rating to a 1 star because now the grinder has stopped grinding the proper amount entirely and is not consistent at all even after cleaning.
The only issue we've had was when the grind setting was 'in between' thicknesses. The grinder seemed to stop working, but with a rotation of the adjuster and a stern talking to, it starting working and hasn't talked back since.
Other reviews mention it's loud - it is. It's quite loud. Loud enough I've actually got it in the basement, away from the kitchen in our split-level house so I don't wake my small children in the morning when they're sleeping and I absolutely want to grind my beans to drink my coffee in peace and quiet.
Make no mistake, though. Burr grinders will improve your coffee drinking life. Get one. Maybe not this one, if you want a quiet model, but definitely get one.
Don't waste your money, within a year it barely grinds coffee and static electricity keeps the grinder constantly clogged as the ground coffee needs to go through a tiny hole. Following manufacturer cleaning guidelines in no way shape or form helped this grinder operate efficiently for a year...
It does a great job without all the bells and whistles. It grinds quickly and evenly. From fine Turkish coffee grind to a coarser filter grind it does a great job.
The plastic container naturally provides you with plenty of static electricity, you do get a bit of coffee dust on the counter but not a deal breaker. You get a good quality grinder at an affordable price. Excellent value for the money.
Our biggest complaint with the grinder is the mess. I was wondering why, when reading the product description, they made such a big deal about the anti-static design of the grinder blades and glass container. Now I know that they are just trying to make up for a badly designed product and convince you that they have addressed what is actually a problem with this grinder. We use fairly oily beans (not super dry ones) and we do not have a big issue with static when using these beans in other grinders. However, with this Bodum grinder, our entire countertop is always covered in ground coffee unless we keep the grinder on its own large tray (then just the tray is covered). Every time we grind, the outside of the collection jar is covered in grinds, as is the front side and base of the grinder and anything nearby. You cannot empty the collection jar without getting ground coffee all over your hands - the rubber strip around the outside of the jar is always covered in coffee grinds and is a pain to remove and clean. We try to brush these grinds up and clean the surrounding area every day, but it is a battle we are constantly losing. Don't buy this if you value a clean and tidy kitchen (and don't want to lose ~ 5% of your beans in a static-y mess).
